Ryan NR-1 Recruit is the Navy version of the Ryan PT-22. Two hundred were built. There were 100 aircraft assigned to NAS Jacksonville and they were used for primary flight training. Being underpowered, they were known as the "Flying Washing Machines" by the early students.
