This is a repaint only for the recently released Warbirdsim P-51D-5-NA "Little Friends II" product. Assigned to the 364th FS, 357th FG, of the 8th AF, "Hurry Home Honey" was the personal mount of Major Richard A. 'Bud' Peterson. Flying 150 combat missions over Europe by war's end, Maj. Bud Peterson also became the highest-scoring ace of the 364th FS, with a final tally of 15.5 victories. Becoming a Major at the age of 21, he was the youngest person to have achieved that rank in the Army Air Force at the time. He would later be awarded the Air Medal, the Silver Star, the Distinguished Flying Cross, and the Croix de Guerre, one of France's highest honors for bravery. After the war he was selected as a staff officer to interview Adolf Galland, commander of the German Air Force fighter forces, on aerial combat tactics and strategy. By John Terrell.
