Looks like a lot of fun to me! 
Wish I still had my R/C PT Boat!
I had one very similar to that in the early 80's. I put an electric motor in it and ran it on a lead acid battery.
I built one with R/C car motors (2), twin props and a 7 cell R/C NiCad battery. It really moved!
I can understand a commercial pilot wanting to stay current but for home use it may be a tad excessive! I wouldn't say no if it was offered for free though!
