1.40 install problems

So I've been following all of the install videos stickied above for Win 7 install, and they've been wonderful - great idea!

I was fine all the way up until 1.40 - I followed the 1.40 video to the letter & was able to validate my install (switch between eras - saw the different splash screens). However, messing around in free flight, I got a CTD not 5 minutes in. I had previously downloaded a "CFS3 ETO Exp Cumul Update 1.40 Hotfix Inst Pack", so I took an educated guess that this was the needed fix.

I ran "CFS3 ETO Expansion 1.40 Hotfix Obsolete File Remover.exe", and then "CFS3 ETO Exp Cumul Update Rev 1.40 Hotfix.exe". Everything seemed to complete fine from an install perspective (no errors), but now I am stuck in the same era.

I guess it's a multi-layered question: is the hotfix necessary? If so, am I doing the right thing running the File Remover first, then the Hotfix?

Did you set era is to “1936” and you ETO Spawns are set to “Stock Spawn Mode” before you ran "CFS3 ETO Expansion 1.40 Hotfix Obsolete File Remover.exe" and "CFS3 ETO Exp Cumul Update Rev 1.40 Hotfix.exe"?

You know, after I thought about it, I'm not sure I did...that's probably what screwed it up! :(

I've re-installed up to 1.40 w/o problems - everything seems to be working fine so far. Is the Hotfix necessary?

The Hotfix does fix some problems that were discovered after the release of the recent ETO, so I would have to say yes - it's necessary. :salute:

But that's really up to you if you want to install it or not.

I must be some kind of idiot - I tried again tonight & it went fine (meaning, I installed the 1.40 hotfix & the game is functioning fine). I must have not been in Era 1/stock spawn mode before running the install last time... :(

Do you guys have any info on performance tuning tips/tricks? I'm assuming many of the tips/tricks that apply to OFF also apply to ETO, but I wasn't sure if there was any ETO-specific advice floating around out there.

I've got a reasonably modern rig (6 core processor, GTX 570, 8GB RAM, etc) and am basically able to run with settings maxed out, but I do seem to get periodic stuttering - just wondering if there are any tips/tricks to ironing those out a bit...
