1970 Dodge Challenger

Had one in slime green with a black vinyl top. Not an RT but had the RT gauge/interior package. Center console with slap stick. Some kind of California Special package from a big dealorship in LA. 340 engine with a single Holly 4bbl. Six pack carbs would have been cooler. Sold it to buy a more respectable businessman's car. The mistakes we make.

I would like to add the Dodge Daytona Shelby addition with full ground effects and turbo. Though it was a 4 cylinder, that thing could go!

I used to have a '79 Trans Am with the WS6 Performance Package. It included beefier sway bars, tighter steering ratio, 15x8" rims, and four-wheel disc brakes. It also had the Olds 403 instead of the Pontiac 400, and the factory installed slap-stick shifter. It had a cruise control, but it didn't work too well below 80 MPH!

Yes, you Aussies definitely had (and still have) some very potent offerings! They're a bit of an enigma here in the States and are about as rare as hen's teeth (with the exception of the Monaros, aka last GTOs)...but are hot cars nonetheless, and very unique.

At least the sharpest looking GM A-body to roll out of Flint made the list though...GSX.


I agree with Naismith though. Not all musclecars are American...although the US makers did define the breed.
I like Wombat's mention of the A9X-option Torana. Think of a Vega with a small-block under the hood....Hoo-Bah!

I always liked the Chevelle SS, Olds 442, and '69 Dodge Super Bee (knew of a guy who had one who tromped on the gas and snapped the engine mounts from the torque), but my favourite was always the Pontiac GTO Judge in that bright reddish orange it featured. Soon as I first saw that as a kid inside an issue of one of my dad's Popular Mechanics mags I back in 1969 was lost.

455 cubic inches of Oldsmobile goodness purring under the hood. Came standard with air conditioning. A luxury muscle car. (One needs to stay cool when leaving the other cars in the dust!)

Speaking of luxury muscle, another 1968 Buick Riviera GS would be on my short list. Specially tuned 430 engine with massive aluminum brake drums and 8 lug wheels.

Had one at one time, but couldn't get a clear title on it so I pulled the engine and scrapped the rest of the car. I tried everything I could think of to get a title on it, but it was just not to be.
