Well presumably they are just an aide to help with object placement when building a facility? Once the facility was compiled presumably the grid would be removed?
That could be. In fact, similarly, I am using the idea mainly for length-width measurements of objects to place on a Gmax file for making airbases. Eventually I'll post a list of the ones I've done and Frosty has some for stock buildings.
