1945 Film of Army Airshow with captured German aircraft

Pretty cool film.

The 4 engine transport at the beginning is not a Fw-200 Condor but a Ju-290.

At the end of the war General Arnold ordered one example of each captured plane German, Italian, and Japanese saved. The NASM has some on display, others in storage awaiting restoration and others are on permanent loan in restored condition to other museums (Do-335 in Germany as an example).

Now that's what I call an airshow!! At about 2:40 mins did you see how low that P47 was!!

Thanks Steve.

If only the RAF had had the forsight to save one of each of our types, I think everyone was so sick of the war at that time that posterity wasn't given a thought.

fabulous O-1.......great find! If only we could separate the politics from the technology. So great to see the birds....all of 'em!
