1970-71 carrier ops onboard the Kitty Hawk

A former shipmate of mine just posted the link to this video, filmed on the Kitty Hawk during its 70-71 deployment. It was back when the flight deck was filled with many types of aircraft, and all with Hi-Viz paints. The video is often shaky (before the digital age), and you can hear the ship's radar bleed through the audio. But you really get a sense for what it was like on that deck. Note: on one closeup of a Corsair II, you can clearly see the outline of a panel, showing how dirty those aircraft can get. Enjoy. NC
