....I remember seeing Plymouth Road Runners running around on the roads in the early 70's. If I'm not mistaken,....the horn gave off a 'beep-beep' sound similar to the Roadrunner bird right before he blasted past Wylie Coyote. And leaving him in his dust.

We had a club come to the museum a few months ago. They had 5 of them. Very nice cars. I remember them well. Did great in NASCAR as well!

Nascar was the only reason the 1970 Superbird and 1969 Daytona Charger were built, you had to buy a production car from a dealer back then to race, there were no custom cars built in shops.

To qualify as a production car they had to build 500 of them, thus the 1968 Charger 500 and Daytona. They built 1820 (best as I know) of the Superbird. So after racing and wrecking all of them imagine how many of each model are left.
I had a 1970 Charger 500 but it was just a name by then,also had 2 1970's,a 1969 and a 1968 Roadrunner along with a 1970 RT Challenger and a 1974 Charger.

And yes the horn went Meep,Meep.:jump:

Hey All,

Great car! Really nice pic!

Panther you get any shots from the front? I never liked the look of the front.

I don't even want to talk about NASCAR and their reaction to this car as I'm a Dodge guy.

For me the ultimate was always a 68 or 69 superbee

We've got a few Superbirds in our area here in Delaware, tho you don't see them out too often. That one looks super nice Panther.

Ed those Super Bees were hot. A few guys had them up north in NY back in the 70s, were I'm from. The one you showw is beautiful.

BTW... has NY changed their license plates again? I saw one the other day that was new and back to the golden orange with blue letters/numbers and border on it.... like the ones from the 60s and early 70s.

Cool shot P. Did you get any of a Duster? Ones from the early 70's, like a 72 with a 340.

Zoren

Tks all...
I've got a few more shots from the MOPAR local show - if anymore are halfway decent, I'll post them...
