2 New Vids-Jetstream 41 @ Mountain Air

Wonderful videos. What kind of controllers do you use? The joystick that I use is a bit to sensitive in yaw axis to make the same smooth turns on the ground that you make; and it is a little jerky in scanning around the cockpit (you seem to be able always to center your view easily).

I have a new Saitek X55 HOTAS which some call the "Poor Man's Warthog". At well under half the price of the Warthog, the X55 is actually an incredible value and on many points it is very comparable to the Warthog. The X55 has given me a lot of function programming capability that my old X52 simply could not do. So far as the stick feel, the Warthog is superior in many ways but the X55 stick has interchangeable tension springs that allow the user to set the pull weight. The stick feel IMO is actually pretty good. Also, with the X55's software as well as FSX, you can tune the sensitivity and actually maintain almost countless profiles for preferred settings for different aircraft. Some contend that the X55 is fragile being mostly plastic compared to the Warthog which is certainly built with heavier metal and plastic parts but the electronics and other internals are very similar. In the end, if an average Flightsim user uses the X55 with fineness, durability won't be an issue. I am 99% sure that if I flew my old X52 and my new X55 (or even a Warthog) as ham-handed as I did with my old controllers from the 1990's, I'd wear them out quickly.

As far as the view panning, in FSX control-button settings, I set the Mouse - View Direction which is normally assigned to the Spacebar key (and utilizing the mouse) to one of the buttons on my X55's throttle. From there, I use a second wireless laptop type micro-mouse on a elevated pad next to my throttle so my left hand can pan the views while I am flying with the stick using my right hand. In the temporary absence of not having TrackIR, this is my quick & dirty method for smoothing out the view panning versus having jerky movements using the Hat panning. It works well for the purpose of making the videos but aside from that, my normally FSX flying usually entails using the Hat panning and maintaining forward view under IFR conditions.

I had a lot of trouble loading that scenery some time back. Wasn't sure if it was a default mesh problem or what. I added the Genesis mesh all of North America but that didn't seem to improve things as the strip wouldn't conform to the land contours.

Still haven't resolved it so I don't fly there...
