2009 World Series

Any interest or opinions? As a long-time Phillies fan, I'm saying the Phillies in six.

Always interested in baseball no matter who is playing. Rooting for the Phillies in this case. Would be good if they can wrap it up in six games.

Aren't they playing the World Series a little late this year?
I mean it js almost November. By the way I'm rooting for the Phillies

Good pitchin' will beat good hittin' any day.

That said, tomorrow night's opener would be a doozy with Cliff Lee and C. C. Sabbathia going against each other. One run could win it.

But the Yankees bullpen is DEEP. And in series like this, it is often the bullpen that carries the team to the Championship or rats them out of it.

And that my friend means the omnipresent Mr. R, the most dominant force in baseball closing a ball game, tilt to the Yankees in six, although I will be pullin' for the Phillies and the NL all the way!

Yep, it is a week or two later this year. In football, the Superbowl will now be in February. It seems all the major sports are increasing the length of their seasons.

I'm a diehard Cubs fan, so I always have to find another dog to root for in the World Series. I'm pulling for the Phillies mostly because they're National League; I've never cared for the American League.

I'm rooting for the Phillies, I suppose. However, my gut tells me the Yankees will christen their new stadium with a championship.

It's frustrating, isn't it? :banghead:
Until that day when the planets align just right and the Cubbies win the NLCS, I go with the National League team. This series could go for a full 7 games, it looks to be a good match-up.

As some of you may remember from LAST season which I ended in Lincoln Financial Field watching the parade and hearing "World Ph__king Champions!" live, I'm from south Jersey and for my Fightin's all the way!

CC seems like he's having a relatively rough night (no tears here), but Lee and Utley are having a GREAT game so far! But how dumb do the Braves look for having traded away BOTH Cliff Lee and CC Sabathia?

That's funny, I have a "friend" who CLAIMS to be a diehard Red Sox fan, but has managed to root for everyone who wasn't the Phillies, up to and including the Yankees - Boston's sworn enemies. What a fraud.

Game 1 - Lee pitched one outstanding game and Utley took two out of the park. The Phillies show they are not intimidated by NY.

Game 2 - The Yankees, thanks to some excellent pitching by A J Burnett, show they are too good a team to roll over and die.

Good Series so far. Phillies won the all-important first game and got the split in NY. Now it goes back to the friendly (well, not so friendly for the Yankees) confines of Citizens Bank Park for the next three.

Go Phillies!
