2D Panel question

WarHorse47

SOH-CM-2024
In my panel.cfg files for each of my Alphasim EE Lighting, the first lines for [Window00] read as follows:

file=Main panel_640.BMP
file_1024=Main panel_1024.bmp

The issue I noticed is that none of the panel folders (there are several for the various models) have a Main panel_640.bmp file. So there is no file associated with the first line as shown above.

I'm guessing that this was for the now freeware FS 2000 version of the aircraft and was never deleted from the panel.cfg file. Since I don't like messy cfg files or erros when I use FS Panel Studio, I'd like to correct things by either deleting the I can either delete the line or recreating the file.

Anybody see a problem with deleting the line? Just wondering before I break anything. :salute:

Thanks

Help with panel.cfg non-existent bmp called for

View attachment 25305No problem... if you want to use the specific panel config...you are going to have to create a bmp 2D panel pic yourself... or use one you like (if you are not artistic to create one... I do mine myself and "accurize" existing ones when I think they don't look good)... At any rate, once you have one you can live with... use the Config Edit (or whatever program you like) to place the dials in the right places (provided you have the .gau files the panel.cfg calls for) or use CF2 or whatever sim extant gau files.
At any rate, eliminating that 640 and 1040 bmp call won't "break" anything... that is just the template the panel.cfg routine will place gauges in according to the positions indicated...
If you need any help with the art part... (I am limited in config file savvy but good with art) just let me know (I am enclosing a pic of a Zeke panel I am working on)

Thanks, Gaucho.

I was thinking of just taking the 1024 bmp, reducing it to 640 and renaming it. The only time it would be used is if I changed the screen resoultion within the sim, which is unlikely as my standard setting is 1024.

If you run in windowed mode with a small window, the Sim will try to pull the smaller bitmap. I suppose it's a way to save resources if you need to multitask while flying. I noticed this once when I made a change to the larger version of one of the stock panels. I switched to a small window and my change vanished. It had me stumped for a second until I realized that there was another bitmap that I hadn't touched!:isadizzy:
