320 squadron (Dutch) Hudsons

Here's yet another repaint for the Alphasim Hudson, representing AM939 NO-E "Cheribon", which was shot down near Ameland on 30 may 1942. The entire crew survived and the pilot, Heije Schaper, went on to become commander of the Dutch Air Forces after the war.
I've also included a few pics of T9364 NO-F "Ypenburg" which crashed on 25 february 1942 during take-off, killing all aboard expect for the pilot, who was thrown clear.

Is anybody flying the Hudson, and if so, do you want me to paint more of them?

Here's two more:
FK790 MA-R, that disappeared over the Netherlands in the night of the 5/6 july 1944, while on a mission to drop secret agents. The whole story of that night and the subsequent discovery of the wreckage can be found here: http://fk790.tripod.com/In_Memory/

T9432 ZS-B, that disappeared in the evening of 15 april 1941 after returning from escort duty over a convoy in the Atlantic. The wreckage was found two weeks later on a remote Scottish hilltop by a farmer. Amazingly, most of the wreckage is still lying there today! a kiwi bird (NZ2035, presently in the Ferrymead museum), and
an ozzie bird, VH-KOY, the only flying Hudson left in the world (as far as I know)

Hey, I missed that one, looks good jeansy! Your screenshots are always so crisp too, how do you do that? Small remark: shouldn't it have "middelburg' on the nose?

I started doing dds textures with my B-24's, only to receive questions/ complaints from FS9 pilots that they couldn't use my repaints anymore. As I can't see any difference between dds & bmp in FSX, I now post everything in bmp, and everybody seems happy.
What is the advantage of dds, does anyone know?

ah, and I've uploaded most of them, phfew!

Is there any way of tweaking the reflections in the glass on this model ? Its a great model, but the lack of reflections let it down. Please don't show me how, as I won't understand, but if one of you skillful chaps could tweak it, I would be made up.

When the Germans invaded the Netherlands several seaplanes of the Royal Netherlands Naval Air Service were evacuated to Britain when their home bases became unavailable. The most useful of these were the modern Fokker T-VIIIW twin-engined patrol seaplanes, which were flown to Pembroke Dock and on 1 June 1940 formed into No.320 Squadron. For several months the squadron flew patrols until shortage of spares forced the withdrawal of the Fokkers, and their replacement by Ansons, supplemented in October by Hudsons. On 18 January 1941, No.321 Squadron was absorbed and in March 1941, No.320 moved to Scotland for patrols and attacks on enemy shipping in the North Sea. Ansons were retained until October 1941 for training purposes and in April 1942 the squadron moved to East Anglia. In March 1943 it was transferred to No.2 Group and re-equipped with Mitchells. It began daylight raids on 17 August, attacking enemy communications targets and airfields as part of Second TAF. In October 1944 it moved to Belgium and continued raids until the end of the war, moving to Germany for the last week. On 2 August 1945, No.320 squadron was transferred to the control of the Royal Netherlands Navy and ceased to be an RAF unit.

OK, this one still needs quite a bit of tweaking, but what would be a better aircraft to explore all of FTX-styled Oz, I ask you? Adastra operated a whole fleet of Hudsons in different paintschemes, so you can expect a few more.
But first I'm off to Lelystad tomorrow....
 
I think FK790, looking at the code and the history you've provided, was probably a 161Sqn aircraft out of Tempsford. If so, it's already on the list of places I'd like to do, but I want to make that one a bit more accurate/special/call it what you like, so it's on hold for the moment.

Leuchars is a bit less likely to be "reverted" unfortunately, as it is still in use and the Tornado jocks might get grumpy if I replaced their runways back to 1940s concrete slabs... ;)

Thanks Jan Kees. Your repaints and jeansy ones are the only ones I know for this bird! They are wonderful!
