5 Corsairs flying at the Planes of Fame Airshow 2017

Great video, The sounds are fantastic. Wonderful aircraft. Steve Hinton is fantastic in his FG-1D.

INHO.The most beautiful WW 2 fighter hands down.

Seeing one perform at Abbotsford BC years ago, made
me appreciate how powerful the Corsairs were and still
are.

Outstanding video. Watching those amazing machines reminds me of just how patriotic, courageous, skilled and capable my dad's generation was. Imagine those young men enlisting and then volunteering to learn how to fly and fight in the most advanced aircraft ever created, and all within a few short years. And how about the Allied manufacturing sector who designed tested and produced the weapons that allowed us to secure the world's freedom. My father's generation was truly the "Greatest Generation" and we owe them everything for fighting to save the world from tyranny.

Happy 4th to those who celebrate.

Mike, that is actually a very nice F4U-5 (owned by Jim Smith). I'm perhaps just as impressed by that airport/surrounding scenery as I am the extensive collection that Mr. Smith owns. ; ) Thank you for sharing that photo (would love to see any more you have taken there!).

Here's a list I put together for a group on Facebook recently, which outlines all of the Corsairs currently flying, and all of those which I am aware of at this time that are under restoration to fly.

F4U-4 - Vulture's Row Aviation
F4U-4 - Jim Fryer (seemingly two project aiframes, including namely Howard Pardue's N68HP)
F4U-5 - Amicale Jean Baptiste Salis (France)
F4U-5 - Jean-Pierre Parizon (France)
FG-1A, FG-1D, and F4U-1D - projects/parts of projects noted in Australia, owned by Jerry Yagen and Kermit Weeks

Examples such as, but not limited to, the F4U-1A (with a -1/birdcage canopy/windscreen) that has been on display at the now defunct TAM Museum in Brazil, the Pond-family/Palm Springs FG-1D, the Kalamazoo Air Zoo FG-1D, Kermit Weeks' F4U-4, and the EAA Museum's F4U-4, have all been left off as they haven't flown in many years. At this time, I'm not aware of any actions being taken with any of these aircraft to fly them again. Numerous other Corsairs of course exist/are preserved in non-operational form.

Great stuff! And nice memories, remembering Oshkosh last year. I stood near a Corsair when it was firing up and taxiing to the runway. I think I made a video of that. :)

Cheers,
Mark

Thanks for the list of currently airworthy and restoration to airworthy Corsairs. The Corsair is still my favorite warbird. And, yes, every time I see one this does play inside my head.
