Why is it that some people deem it necessary to post such tragic events ASAP, literally within minutes of an accident.
Looks like a disgusting race who can post such tragic events first on every imaginable webpage.

Or simply just notifying a community that is aviation related of a serious incident?

I don't buy that.

While I agree that news media can't wait to report "Cat stuck in tree! Authorities notified! We'll follow this breaking news for you!", I don't think this post comes under that umbrella.

I believe it was meant to be informative, not just titillating.

Here's an updated link for everyone else with a decent slide show

Since last weekend their have been 18 crashes and indicents with 11 dead pilots. I'm surprised that you didn't consider these cases serious enough to report.

A slideshow, wow, isn't that great....

Perhaps you should frequent a knitting forum...it might not offend your delicate sensibilities so easily, however, if you wish to continue to your angry response perhaps we can take it to a different forum and not disrupt this one?

Well, that response is quite something. Almost unbelievable.....and of course I'm so sorry for 'disrupting' your thread. Won't happen again, sorry.

Of course we all are interested in aviation related news. I appreciated the heads up on the UPS crash. Don't see anything ghoulish in reporting the facts.

Did someone put something in the FS Community's water supply or something?

Lately, it sure seems like tempers are short and replies are testy, all over FS Land!

Again, why are 2 pilots who were killed in a crash a few hours ago more 'serious' than any of the other 13 killed pilots in the last week?

Thanks for the heads up on the tragic events in Birmingham. The details of what happened I am sure will be forthcoming. Fortunately on two casualties in the crash.

i think he meant "only" Bstolle....and to your point..it is a shame that those other pilots have been lost..my condolences to the families of all those who have passed in the recent weeks and months..

Bernt,

You are absolutely right; every fatality, regardless of circumstance, should be treated with the same level of sorrow and sadness.

Unfortunately, with the emphasis lately on the Dreamliner, the SWA and Asiana incidents, the Media jumps on any story involving a large airliner, whether it's pax or freight. And, so does the FS Community.

This shouldn't be too much of a surprise, considering that the majority of flightsimmers part the virtual skies with big iron. Sure, that will bring out increased interest and speculation just like the Asiana crash and all the issues with the Dreamliner did.

It's a shame that the other incidents were minimized by Media coverage, but the important thing is that you have the other victims in your thoughts, as we all should.

:salute:

In this case a large cargo aircraft crashed in the early hours of the morning, not minutes before being posted, and would be of interest to an aviation related community.

If there have been other crashed that a member feels might be of interest to the community they should simply post it. For instance, I was in Columbus, IN several weeks ago when a light kit plane (piloted by an acquaintance of mine) crashed into a home. Although both the pilot and passenger survived, the pilot eventually died from his injures. There were plenty of photos and news stories that I could have posted, however, I didn't believe the crash of a light aircraft would be of significant interest to the community.

If people aren't interested in a significant aviation disaster, for whatever reason, then they should simply ignore the post; others may be interested.
