First of all, to give you a little history on the 'attached' pictures, the 'real life' version is currently owned by a gentleman in Virginia HOWEVER back in the 1980's and beginning of the 1990's, it was owned by my oldest brother - so after spending several years associated and working on 'her', I guess you could say I have a 'personal' connection to 'her'..

Last year I purchased one of the Warbird Sim Mustang packages and asked Bomber_12 if he would be so kind as to do a 'repaint' of "Double Trouble Two" - and I explained why - and this morning I woke up to find it in my mail box !!!! :jump:

So JOHN, I THANK YOU very much - I appreciate what you did, I've flown it quite a bit already and I look forward to flying it a lot more in the future !!! :wavey:

I hope you all enjoy the pictures !!!

Bill

I'm glad you're enjoying it, Bill! I hope it re-kindles some good memories for you (and I'm sorry it took so long to finally have finished!). It was great to have you're advice/knowledge of the aircraft in order to help make it accurate.

As you told me, Bill, when your brother had the aircraft painted, back in the 80's, it was done by one of the best companies in the business (Sky Harbour), with many layers of clear over the paint. As a testament to how good of a job was done on the aircraft then, and maintained so well since, it is still flying with the same paint today, and it still looks spectacular.

I should have the repaint uploaded for use with the various Warbirdsim D-models early this week.

Double Trouble Too made appearances at several of the CWH airshows back in the 1980's and early 90's before it got sold overseas. It's always been my favourite Mustang paint scheme; the graphic contrast of yellow and black, the big checkerboard nose, the nose art, rudder treatment, and the outlined squadron codes just work so well together. One year - 1989 I think it was - the CWH had the largest warbird show I can remember. No less than sixteen P-51D's tuned up, but it was DT Too that I enjoyed seeing there the most.

Sadly, Sky Harbor shut down much of its operation following a devastating F3 tornado that hit Goderich, Ontario, in the summer of 2011. Although it was not impacted directly by the storm, the local impact to the town, along with a reduction in work orders when the aftermath of the 2009 economic crisis really took hold, forced the shop to close its doors...

I AM enjoying it !!! If my memory serves me, my brother owned it for about 9 years and I was around 'her' for about 8 years - SO YES, it is bringing back (and a lot) some really good memories !!!

I have to laugh at thinking about that !! I haven't seen 'her' up close since the early 90's and I definately didn't want to 'mis-lead' you with any information - SO it was 'testing' the 'old' brain for sure !!!!

(Sky Harbour),

I don't know if there still in business today but 'back in the day' I would have to say that they where the 'the place' to go for repaints. In fact, my brother was so pleased with the outcome of "DDT" that it wasn't long after that he took his Beech Baron up there and had that done !!

Again, thank you very much John, I really appreciate it..

I remember going to quite a few shows up there. Since we where 'based' in New Hampshire, I use to follow my brother to the CWH shows in my C-172.. In fact he use to do quite a few shows together with the one that was based there (as in my avatar pic - third airplane in line - we where on our way to Texas).. I appreciate the compliments - and I'll past them on to him..

I use to 'airboss' the Manchester New Hampshire Warbird show and we always had a bunch show up for that !!!! (I think it was because of the lobster we always had on the Saturday night menu !!!)

Here are some screenshots testing out the repaint from Compton-Abbas (UK). I'll be including options to install it into "Restored Part 1", "Restored Part 2", "Little Friends 1", and "Mustang Tales", depending on what you may have. Seen here, the repaint is applied to the restored 'Geraldine' model from "Mustang Tales".

Superb work as always, John. You truly are a gift to the community. Glad you'll be posting for Little Friends II and Mustang Tales as I just picked up both...

Cheers,

N.

Stunning as always, John - looking forward to it. Btw Compton Abbas was about 20 mins. drive from where I used to live. I passed it often on the way to Bath and Bristol. On a high (by UK standards...!) plateau about 20 miles from the coast.
