I am from Indianapolis, and the story USS Indianapolis tragedy is well documented. I have a collection of books about it. My late uncle, Capt. Robert O. Jackson, Sr., attended the dedication ceremony for the Indy memorial, downtown Indianapolis.
My uncle, when talking about the tragedy, would get quite incensed. The skipper of the Indy, Captain Butler McVay III, was made a scapegoat at the trial. Horrible miscarriage of justice. And Capt. McVay committed suicide in 1968. NC
