You didn't run into Nick Churchill down there did you, Paul? I got a phone call yesterday, asking me to identify any aircraft that I couldn't even see from fifty-odd miles away. I've no idea whether my guess was right or not. Hopefully Nick'll post a photo at some point. ;)

We were hoping to go this year, but my fragged back and Mrs. P's insides getting booted around by forthcoming Little P conspired against us.

Is that a Sea Fury in the background, with the Aussie roundels?

The airshow they had here this past weekend wasn't anything like Duxford. The only WW2 birds were T-6's. I haven't seen an actual Skyraider in over a decade.

Did you post more pics somewhere for us to check out?

It shows what you get if you're prepared to spend the money on a good camera and lens. Terrific pictures, especially the fiery Spitfire exhaust.

By the way, the man wearing the white helmet in the first F8F shot is Stephen Grey, owner of The Fighter Collection and the driving force behind Flying Legends. Some of his collection is still grounded because of 'paperwork' issues with the CAA, but they are all gradually returning to the skies as matters are resolved.
 
That I-16 was my favourite of the show, such an unusual and fantastic sound, although for shear pace, the Bearcat was amazing. The DC-3 pilot gave a great performance, really throwing her into some unusual angles for such a big dosile bird.
