A Dive Bombers Dream...

Not RAF Detling, 13th August. Killed the station commander, 20 or so aircraft and some of the the buildings flattened (including a semi-sunken ops room which got a direct hit)?

ok 3 days later... Tangmere? August 16th, raid on Tangmere did a lot of damage. Much of the base was wrecked and 7 vital Hurricanes were destroyed.

Im afraid its not Tangmere either. Im getting worried now it doesnt look like the airfield it should be! :icon_eek:. Youre more than welcome to guess Clive.. youre just not allowed to guess the correct answer! Oh and sorry about the Stuka it was erm.. a test flight in a captured one.. honest :engel016:

Hawkinge on the 15th? An unintended consequence of the raid was severing power cables under the road outside which cut off power to Rye, Foreness and Dover radar stations.

Of course you're flying the '87 for test purposes - Eric 'Winkle' Brown also had a very enjoyable day in one.

Cough**cough **Lympne**cough cough.....

Btw have just spent all day at Tangmere museum and wandering round (whats left of) the airfield..a grand day out!

How did you ever guess Clive!?! :icon_lol:. Tangmere is a great little museum, has lots of Battle of Britain stuff which is always good.
