A game?

Guys, I took a wildcat out for a spin today. I wanted to look into the fuel mixture idea. Hit the F5 key (on purpose, this time) Well now, will you look at that. Then I took my first real look at the wildcat check list. Did I say I wanted to try flying in a more realistic way? I thought I was doing good when I turned the tactical dispay off. Gentlemen, I have not been flying, I`ve been playing. I will report back when (if) I complete flight school. This is not a game, this is real! See ya, Rick

You are just learning that lol? I have been flying it for sometime and still find new things I have to change.I am working on the mission that was flown by the marines at Midway and flying the F2A-3.I still have to set the AC up for thkeoff and then after takeoff climb as hard as I can.Once i reach 17000FT I have to close the cowl flaps reset the mixture put the prop into cruse pitch then reset the trim and correct my speed to stay in formation. On the dive into the enemy formation I have to put the prop into fine pitch and reset the trim again. From then on it work the trim, prop pitch, set and re set the mixture and correct my speed so that I can get a shot at the enemy if I am lucky. That doesn`t include looking out for enemy aircraft because I to am not using any CFS2 aids. This sim is very close to the real thing. There are a few things that the AI could do better but overall I think you will find it very close to real flying.

Good idea, but don't overdo it. Keep in mind that a real pilot in a real plane has certain advantages the simulation can not provide you, largely having to do with visibility, depth perception, and reaction time. A real pilot's visual acuity is many times greater than what the sim's graphics can provide, and the field of vision is much wider. A real pilot does not have to push a button to look somewhere. And a real plane responds more quickly and more smoothly to the controls.

One of the great things about this game/sim is that you can make it as challenging as you want and you can always add to it - never boring

One thing you might want to do is to make sure you can use your autopilot.I use it alot even flying formation. I set it up so that I can lock in the master switch my alt. hold and heading hold. When I am flying formatiom and get into position in the formation I then turn on the master switch and lock in the alt. hold. It sure makes things better.I then only have to worry about maintaining my heading and airspeed.Just before I attack I just hit the master switch and cut it off.
