A Goody For You "Flyboys"

Can anyone identify the plane "Vic Rattlehead" is flying though? I cant really tell. :mixedsmi:

Actually, I would prefer to be back in the 30's and 40's listening to swing and jazz, but
since I'm stuck in this era...break out the strong stuff!

I almost want to say the planes are a made-up design, I dont really see any strong identification.
( I've looked till I went crosseyed.)
 
DOH!...(lol) I really should've noticed the raised portions in front of the cockpit!
