A list of FREE Software

Keep a look out for TrialPay offers.

The system works like this:-
  1. You try some piece of software on a 40-day (or so) free trial and go to uninstall 'cos you like it but can't find the cash right now.
  2. The uninstallation process throws up a Web page offering the full version for free if you sign up to a free short-period trial of something else.
  3. You sign up to it, supplying valid credit card details, and the unlock code for the software you liked is emailed right back to you. RESULT!
  4. You find you don't like the games/music downloads/photo widgets/whatever so the next day you cancel the something else. Or maybe you like obscure jazz or historic funk and stay signed up...
I've stumbled across this twice so far and have gained two valuable (to me) pieces of software - GetRight, the download manager; and WinZip 12 standard edition. And the credit card is none the worse for the experience. :ernae:

Here is another good one.

It is a utility to erase the unused portion of your hard drive. That is the area of the hard drive that might or does contain old deleted files that have not been over written.

This one will do from Pseudorandom Data (one pass) to Gutmann (35 passes)

I must agree with IOBIT's Advanced System Care Free. I liked it so well, I went ahead and paid for the Pro version. Great program, highly recommended. Get Smart Defrag while you're at it, works within Advanced System Care's Utilities. Game Booster really isn't needed if you are running a top line system.

For those that have Photoshop CS, Photoshop Elements, Paint-Shop Pro, or Corel Photo-Paint, I highly recommend the Virtual Photographer plug-in. Free at: http://www.optikvervelabs.com/.
