Ok, I must reiterate...I love love love this game! But I gotta couple of glitch-os that I need some help with.

The first, no matter what graphic settings I change to, I get these purple patches on the ground at my take off field. It happens sometimes, but not always, and once I'm flying at about 100 yards away from the airfield they leave, dissappear, everything else is fine. I've reinstalled the gam thoroughly three times and they still show. I suppose if I max out my terrian settings they will likely show less, but thats not an option. I think ny settings are 2-2-3-1-3-1, but I can re check.

Secondly, and worse than the first, I cannot finish a mission, warp back to the field and then upon leaving warp, leave the game. The game will always at this point freeze onthe black transition screen with the little cursor showing. I have to shut down and re-boot, or ctrl-alt-del to escape this dead end. I can work around by not warping back and manually warping back with the ctrk shift e, or just end the mission behind lines, but would like to see if anyone has a solution. Its win XP-OS Dell- e520 with an nvidia card E7300 w 258 meg ram. Any ideas are much appreciated. In the meantime I'm tryin to work around.

ZZ.

Still lovin it......just a little irritated. : )

Another Dumb Question: Have you configured the card, the one on Desktop is CFS3 it does you NO good ?

Also: Learn to love the ( Z ) Key. . it's your FPS you want to stay from single digits, teens are great. It's an older computer. . . Forget all that talk of 30's, 40's, and 50's. I run mid 20's . . I'm happy

The first Number is meaningless it ain't connected to anything, it's just a remnent of CFS3 Forget it. There are only 5 active Graphics Sliders.
. . . . They Are . . . .
Aircraft, Terrian, Scenery, Effects,Clouds . .Set at 3,1,1.2,1
Have you run the Configuration for the card, and if so where. I say that for a reason. The one you acessed from desktop is CFS3

The one you want is at: My Computer > Local Disc C > Program Files > Microsoft Games > CFSWWI OverFlandersFields > the file with the wrench on it. Double clic on the wench the Configuration square appears
Leave it alone . . it's all auto

Once it's done clic on File, then Custom Settings

A Banner will appear telling you the world is gonna end . .( clic OK)

Before you are the Master Graphics Sliders

Set them as requested and Clic OK

Then Clic as many X's as you need to get out

Start up OFF, with your updated Driver's, configured card, new slider settings, and Z and we'll see :kilroy:

Hi Guys,
A little clarification to what Gimpy has stated, hes mostly right just a couple of points.

the first slider still works in OFF just as it does in CFS3 its just a quick way of setting all your sliders to the same number rather than moving 5 individually. ei put the first one on 3 and all the others will automatically go to 3

the second point is once you have made your changes to the custom settings in the config file, dont hit the littel cross's to get out of it.

Go to the top left corner and right click and hit exit. if you use the little cross's some of you changes will not take.

regards Rob.

Thanks for the responsive help guys, its much appreciated. Yes I have the current drivers and configured properly. Gimp, I used to adjust the sliders in just the way you mentioned, by going through the desktop instead of the cfs3 config in workshops, but I found,(after about 100 attempts at adjustment), that when I adjusted them in the CFS3 config in workshops, the changes were there if I went the other route from the desktop as well. Is this lying to me? Or are the changes not taking in this fashion? Anyway, I also know not to hit the little red x to get out and thereby blank all my changes. Nonetheless, I still occaisionally get this purple field bug. Thats not my biggest problem though, and if anyone can give me any ideas as to how not to lock up on a black screen when coming out of the final warp to home strip and trying to return to the flight room, that would be great!!! As it stands I'm just watching on the map while warping till I get close to my field, then hitting escape before the warp ends in the "Mission Complete or no more goals" message, and leaving that way. If I wait too long and he exits warp to the message above, when you leave.....black screen of death. : (

ZZ.

PS. I thought it might be a bad install, so I uninstalled both CFS3 and OFF3, and searched for all hidden files, then reinstalled 3 TIMES. No better. Maybe its something in XP. The wierd thing is it didnt do this when I first installed it, it was only after I played it for a day or so, thats why I thought bad install. i think its definately in my machine though...not an OFF issue.

We must have different builds of XP, because my upper left corner only features WINDOW which as we both know, will only take him deeper into settings, which we don't desire at this point

On the Lower Right, is a OK button, which should approve the slider moves, and at with that panel then disappears.

From that point on, X your way out :ernae:

Firstly, something to try: When Warping don't hit Escape . . instead hit Cancel Warp ( control+X )

OK . . Niether the Configuration or the Sliders are acessable from the Desktop, Programs > Main Menu . . it says CFS3 and it has a file with a wrench on it. . . But it's WWII

The ONLY way to acess WWI is outlined in Post #4 :wavey:

Ok...sorry Gimpy, I may have been unclear, by "through Desktop" I meant by going to the Desktop..ie not thru workshops in OFF, and going to C; Msoft Games/etc etc. So when you do this are you saying I need to go into CFS3, or the Over Flander Fields file where ther is a CFS3 config icon. Which is it I should use?

Secondly, I have gone deeper an set some of the Overrides to maximize FPS as has been mentioned here in other places. But I have done nothing other than what has already been outlined.

And Third, I have no trouble leaving the game correctly when I hit Escape while in the final warp to home field and exiting that way. Its ONLY when I let that final warp end itself naturally in the game, and return to normal time, and see the home field ahead and the message "mission accomplished...goal competed...whatever it is etc etc...and either land or try to end the game in the air, and THEN it will freeze to black transition screen. My workaround has been to end that warp prematurely, before the game does it naturally, then all is well. I'm trying to figure out why I can't let it do its normal thing and end properly without my interruption.

Start > All Programs > Microsoft Games > Combat Flight Simulator 3 > Configure CFS3 . . . is WWII Totally Useless :kilroy:

K, I'll tweak some more.

What do you mean "is WWII totally useless?"

And finally, any ideas on the "freeze bug"?

Thanks,

ZZ.

Whatever moves you make in WWII, have NO effect whatsoever in OFF:kilroy:

Gimpy - You know what you mean but the brevity of the way you say it is not too clear.
E.g. How is your post 4 the only way to set the config file? It is a way- reading between the lines- but the recognized way is via workshops by clicking on Cfs3 config file. Why else would Winder put it there.?

Zoom Zoom - Are you running at as high a resolution as possible. OFF loves high resolutions - the sim runs faster, believe it or not:)

Disable as many background programmes that may be running as well- AV, firewall ( unless on the internet all the time )- that sort of thing

I had similar weird purple areas in my OFF graphics a couple years ago. It occurred when I tried some tweaks on the 'Texture Info' page of the CSF3config.

I recall I had the texture pools at default (no problem) and then switched to managed (caused problems). Maybe a few other changes too that i can know longer remember. Who knows, maybe changing some of these settings might have a good effect for you?

Unfortunately every system seems to be a bit different so not saying what settings to use, but just betting that something needs tweeking in there to find the right combo.

Maybe someone with a similar card can post their settings for you to tryto try?

How in the Name of All that's Holy, are you going to Configure your Video Card to OFF through Workshop ? I invite anyone including Winder to explain that one. Is that Clear Enough ?

Maybe they're talking about the Overrides Panel etc?

To configure your game display quality settings, go to WORKSHOP, click CFS3 Config. Then you can be sure you are using the right one. Read the FAQ near the top for what to do.

To configure your VIDEO card too, go to desktop, right click NVidia control panel. Hmm nvidia card E7300 is one I have never heard of, but sounds fairly lowish in spec, try low terrain and scenery sliders first (try 1 or 2).

Ummm, with the CSF3config button??
