A little help.

For some reason, I have started having problems with FSX locking up while in flight. Sometimes I can complete a flight (usually longer than a few hundred miles) and other times it will lock up halfway through or on a few occasions it waited until I was about 10 minutes from landing, lol. Anyone ever have a similar problem. . .or anything that even remotely resembled this? Just looking for any suggestions that are out there. I have tried letting the sim rebuild the FSX.cfg file, but that had no effect.

"Lock up"?

Any error message? This is not the same as a "Crash To Desktop"?

Have you tried monitoring VAS (Virtual Address Space)?

Have you tried backing off sliders in Settings? Disabling Scenery addons?

Thanks guys. . .I'll look into these as well. I got a few tweaks from FireKitten (HiMemFix and BufferPools) that I had not been using but remembered from earlier FSX installations. My current installation was bare bones, so much of what I had added over time was lost when I initially dumped FSX for P3D.

HiMemFix allows FSX to utilize up to 4GB of memory, so it is a good tweak, but is unnecessary with the Steam Edition of FSX as it is already implemented. I've tried the BufferPools tweak and never had good results. It's one of those things that works for some, but not everyone.

The sim just locking up and not giving an error message could easily be an overheating issue.

If by "locking up" you mean the screen freezes and the sim stops responding I would agree with those suggesting overheating.

That's exactly what my computer started doing when the cooling fan on my video card failed.
