"A Little Italian Flavor"

Bomber_12th

SOH-CM-2025
As requested a few weeks back (been working on and off, when I can) for "Little Friends I", this is a repaint of P-51D-25-NA 44-73444, Italian AF MM4323, as it is preserved and on display in Italy. I just have to stamp the placards for the cockpit with all of the correct numbers, and then it will be uploaded. Having been used to the authentic filled and silver dope finished wings for so long (where there shouldn't be much detail at all showing), I'm rather liking these examples with bare metal wings and all of the detail that becomes present as a result.

The real aircraft has a rather unusual line to the glare shield, but I copied it.

My Italian is a bit rusty, but it is definitely the correct livery to celebrate the Italian victory this evening on the European Championship Football.

Cheers,
Huub

It's funny how things work out, Huub. ; )

And thank you Jan Kees!

The repaint has now been uploaded here a short time ago. Here are just a couple more images, just for kicks, showing the additional paint on the stainless flap forward curves.

John, the championship isn't over yet. Next game the Italians will meet the Germans. As the German are the favourites to win the tournament, a ""Beute Machine" may be appropriate :icon_lol:

BTW I love the metal finish, but you already know that!

Cheers,
Huub
