After Merc Air/Flight 19's assault on FlightSim's Holkam Bay event in default Lockheed Vegas, I felt a need to unwind a bit. And what better way than to fly a Spitfire. I started out by doing a little bush flying in K5054, the Spitfire prototype in Idaho. Then I moved to Southampton England and into a Mk XVI LF for a flight across southern England to Merc Air's top secret HQ near Southend, flying over London in the process. And while I didn't get any screenshots of it, I then took my favorite, the Mk XIX, out of my home airport (KTGC), flying touch n goes without lights at night. All in all an enjoyable evening and it made me realize that I need to fly Spitfires much more often than I normally do. And I've got a hanger full of them.

For some old CFS2 models, Paul's planes are still nice and really flesh out a simmer's collection of Spitfires.

Heck, his 109s are in the same league as his Spits. I have them all in my Vintage Military install of FS9.

Paul is still the only person to do the Mk XII.

And for someone like me who likes the Griffon powered Spitfires, it's a must have in the hanger!

Actually, it's the old Combat Flight Center scenery that was made for CFS 1 and Merc Air's HQ since a while before CFS 2 came out. CFC was the predecessor site to Sim Outhouse. It works in FS9 with a few issues and bit of tweaking with AFCAD and some flattens and exclusions. And rayrey, Canelo's Cantina sits on one side of the field with ample aircraft parking.

I see some more screenshots need to be taken tonight. :d

Here's the AH Spitfire XIX. It's painted as one of the BBMF Spitfires in the paint scheme of the last operation Spitfire flight about 1954. I did a little taxiing around CFC Rochford taking a few pics, before taking off from 1R and doing what the Spitfire XIX was made to do. Photo ops! Using the camera view, I got a good overhead shot of Rochford. In it you can see where the original runways and taxiways ghost in. They're not visible from the ground, just at certain angles from the air. Never have been able to fix that, so I just live with it.

While I was at it, I went out over the Thames estuary and got a shot of one of the sea forts.

Merc Air runs daily cargo flights from the US hauling in US brand beers and whiskey. The little building next to the Cantina is the original "Outhouse", which houses a still for the more rotgut cheap stuff which is also usable in methanol/water injection systems on aircraft.

Too funny! Well on your next trip across the pond please stop in Iceland and pick me up a case of Reyka vodka!
