A little treat on the way for the Champ Camp

Cazzie

SOH-CM-2024
I have been in FSX for too long, so long I had forgotten just what a real please a long slow flight in good old FS2004 was like. Took one today, then took two more with this little treat I just worked up for the FS2004 Champ camp only, this is NOT for FSX.

Aw rite Pointy31, heat up that kettle on the cajun K-A mash, this is an entirely new repaint of the Cream and Tan Champion 7AF Tri-Traveler that I sent to Kevin to include for the Beta package of his LIC Champion Tri-Traveler 7AF for FS2004. This repaint is for FS2004 only and not meant for FSX.

I did not like the drab and pale nature of the Cream color in the original paint, so I gave it a little more yellow and brighter pastel cream. I also fixed the lines and marking using vector graphics in lieu of my former raster graphics, you will note a great deal better resolution.

The area between the wing and aileron ribbing was treated to a "Huub Vink" treatment of shading and highlighting. which really brings out this area in FS2004.

I also used the new propwash and tire I worked up for "Charlie Brown" and a special wood treatment instrument panel for this alone.

Thanks Kevin for this treat, using new tricks I have learned from the pros for better results and wish to pass them on for other affectionados in the Champ Camp.

Goodness Caz!

You even have rib shading and ribbing tape!!

Nice work man.

Love the lightly stained burled wood panel as well.

Brian, PM out to you.

Bill, I am still looking for a larger-sized wood texture. I had to enlarge that and it is fuzzy! I'll find one, if I have to shoot it myself! It is the one texture that is subject to change when I find a better wood texture. I had the lower control colume panel in wood also, but it just did not look right, do I deleted the layer and went with the default black leather-grain. The panel combing remains black leather-grain.

Thanks Huub for all your help and that article I still have a link to. The shading and highlighting really does add a new life to these FS2004 aircraft. You and Manuele Villa have it down to a fine art. :applause:

Looks much better Cazzie. I especially like the shaded ribbing look on the wing surface. you're right, the panel needs a better texture for sure. And, don't forget to drop (if you can) the wood grained panel down a smidge. The bottom gauges look like they don't have any shorts on...lol.

If you want any help searching for panel textures let me know. Glad to help

Cazzie, this paint is a true work of art.. Simply beautiful. What model have I missed, though? I haven't found it in my hangar. I thought for sure I had them all....

OleBoy, I can't do a thing about that, it's built into LilSki's model. Even if I make it wood, it is even more offending, I did remove the shadow, which helped from the default, But it "is" a beta model.

Quicksand, as with Brian, send me a PM with your email addy. I had your email in my old computer, but I can't find it in the new computer. I have the zip and will send it to you as an attachment.

Wow...looks great!:ernae:
I don't have that one anymore; lost it in the Hard Drive Crash of 2008. Puts a smile on my face in any case...
If you can find it in your heart Cazzie...check your PMs
PS: how big of a wood sample do you need? I'll try to see what I can do after work tonight.

Yeah, it works just fine in FSX too...:ernae:

For some reason, the exterior does well in FSX Mike, but my cockpit is messed up and the gauges wo not align?

Might try a clean install, as I have it out of FSX at the moment.

Did work up one of your favorite 7BCMs in 2048 .DDS textures. Think I'll just tease you for the moment and send it to you after lunch! :a1310:

Caz, my Tri is flawless in FSX, and except for a prop texture change, is stock. Than military paint looks good, I'll be waiting for it. Thanks podnuh...:ernae:

Eeeeeeeeeee-doggie! That it does! Must have corrupted something in the last trial at converting to .DDS. Got it all right this time! :applause:

Caz

New wood for panel, notice the gauges are not blocked.

2048 X 2048 .DDS textures for the three main textures, I doubled the size of the rear tail addition from 512 to 1024 also. The remainder of the textures remain in default sizes. All are DDS DXT5 textures. Didn't have to do a thing Pointy, adopted right over.
