A lost Battle.....

69 years ago an already lost battle was fought over France. A reason for me to dust off the Fairey Battle by Jeff 'Jed' Marsh. The history and links to download this model can be found here: http://www.pavaservices.com/cfs/Battle.htm

Thanks for reading the story Richard. It seems we appreciate the stories about 'how we won the war' better than stories about the period it seemed we were loosing it......
Nevertheless I think we should not forget those who were equally brave, but could not turn the tide in the early days of the war....

The Fairey Battle model was originally done for CFS2, however it can be used without any problems in FS9.
To improve the VC you can alter is values in the panel.cfg file in 1024. It will make the guages much easier to read.

[Vcockpit01]
Background_color=0,0,0
size_mm=512,512 <== change this into 'size_mm=1024,1024'
position=7
visible=0
ident=
pixel_size=1024,1024
texture=$battleM

I love Jed's planes, all of them. The Battle combat file is indeed a sad one, filled with brave men fighting insurmountable odds. Later in the war, fighter-bombers would fill the role that the fateful mission threw the battle into, but at that time in the war, single engined fighters were not so equiped to do so, thus large, ungainly and poorly defended planes were often sent to do a job the were so ill-equipped to do.

Brave men indeed. :medals:

PS. Screenie is an old CFS2 one.

My ex-father in law, who started his 38 year career in the mob as a gunner, was serving on the Isle of Man when the war started. All the erks in his unit were offered immediate promotion to sergeant if they switched to Fairey Battles; for personal reasons he decided not to - needless to say all of the guys who did were wiped out in the Battle of France.
