• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

A map display of SOH member locations....

Just a thought...

But it would be interesting to have a map display that would show where all the SOH members live. I have seen apps where this has been done.

yeah... it could even be colour-coded to show the level of participation (you know, red for 3000+ posts, green for 1-3000, blue for 100-999 and let the mass that never get involved cover the world in a grey blob). Of course, unless it was tied to your initial registration the 'grey' ones would never show up anyway :kilroy:

Seriously, I like the basic idea.

We did that with the scenery we did when I was with FREEflow. I think they used Google Earth to do that. I had nothing to do with that, but it can be done.

This is my house. Must not be able to post a KML file.

TRY THIS

You just click on your location, enter your display name, and it places a marker.

(There is code you can paste into the site to display the map. If the mods are okay with it I can post it here, or start a new thread.)

Oops... I added a marker, but it isn't where I am (in the Atlantic Ocean) and I can't delete it, sorry..! I was wondering how the heck it was going to figure out where I was. I got my answer - it can't, you have to tell it... :icon_lol:

It would be cool to have such a map.

...Done....

That's cool!

We can know what part of the Universe each one is at....

(Did I say Universe? Too much X3 for me ......):isadizzy:

Done! Close enough anyway...

If you zoom in really, really close, you can see me getting out of my car to open the garage! :)

Wonder, is there a way to make a permanent link to the map on the forum menu bars or something? :kilroy:

Oh sweet, you can export all of those markers to Google Earth too.

If someone made a new thread with the link in the first post, then a mod locked it and made it sticky...

...Henry?
