Right colour. Right sound. Yep...crank the sound. Glorious. Thanks for posting, that's a very......good.....evocation. :guinness::guinness:

First car, Ferrari F500 circa 1953, second, Ferrari 312 circa 1967, third Ferrari 312B1, 1970-1971 [The best!] and the fourth..............not a Ferrari, just another bloody FIAT.

I know absolutely zip about race cars, but ya gotta appreciate the sound in this video! I think it is well done!

Seeing and hearing the 312 made me immediately want to dig out my copy of 'Grand Prix Legends' and see if I could get it to work. :icon_lol:
I miss GPL sometimes, still. I know some folks are keeping it alive after all these years.

I think I remember seeing this commercial on "Speed" a couple years back. Good stuff.
Proving you don't need catchy phrases or music to sell a product, just sweet sounds.

I agree that Shell did a really good job with this, even the drivers helmets were right.
Ascari's 'Herbie Johnston' in the 500, Amon in the 312 and Ickx aboard the 312B [or rather, their helmets!] looked the Ducks Nuts!
Can't recall who the Bloody Muppet in the FIAT was .................. :kilroy:

I really liked seeing both 312's ripping up the road. Reminded me of my
youth when I was really into following the F1 series. Need to go dig out
my copy of "Grand Prix" and watch it again. Then "Le Mans" to top it off.

I love that! A Ferrari is just a fancy Fiat. lol
I had a Fiat once (a 131 Mirafiori circa 1975), It leaked water through the glove box when it rained or I drove into a puddle, the electrics worked occasionally or when they could be bothered but never on a Monday morning. The fuel consumption was ridiculous for a small car. I left it out in the rain unprotected overnight and it rusted away to nothing. But I loved that car. It was fast, nippy, exciting and totally unpredictable in cornering. Ahhh the Italians, totally loco.

I still have the 1998 original and I've always had GPL on my computer (There is also a modded version available which works on new computers- I think that the installer is here - http://gplps.org/wb/ ) - for a couple of years, starting about 11 years ago I did some minor mods and additions for GPL.

Still got GPL(67) fully upgraded and the 1965, 66, 68 & 69 upgrades, the 67 F2 upgrade and the 67 GT car upgrade with the full Targa Florio track.

What with this CFS2 and GP500 from a similar era (with countless upgrades) I guess I just like the old games. Very few new games have appealed as much.........

Thanks for that link SPman - The old GPL forum has gone and I've lost a lot of the GPL links. I had a (very) minor part in the '65 mod team and did some early and very rough F2 or F3 cars using the old GPL TrackEditor program

This track GPL will test your skill. http://jrpearson.homestead.com/IsleOfMan.html A 15 mile version of the 37.73 mile IOM Mountain Course. Great with the '65 car set. He's working on the full length version.

I always loved the sound of the 312 series. Other favourites that come to mind are the 71/72 Matras and the Porsche 917-30 turbo Can-Am cars of the same era. I still remember the feeling in my chest as the Porsche ripped by!!
