A new worlds map have been discovered in Munich, Germany, made by Martin Waldseemuller at the 16th century (1500) It whas the first time the word America whas named of the north american continent after the italian explorer

A couple of small corrections. His name is Amerigo. The feminine version is America, and the tradition of the day was to use the feminine when naming things such as ships and lands. He is Italian, but sailed under a Portugese flag.
He actually ran into America by accident after missing the West Indies by a couple of hundred miles :)
And like Columbus he thought he'd found India, thus the nomenclature given to the natives.
Overall a happy mistake. Unless you're a native.

I am half Native. Speaking for myself, I prefer to be called "Injun" and not Indian or Native American. Injun has a ring to it that just goes easy on my ears.
