A paint request for Morton

Charter Member
Hi Morton,

I was wondering if I could request a skin for the AlphaSim F-105D Thunderchief for Maj. Don Kutyna who flew for the 44th Tactical Fighter Squadron, 355th Tactical Fighter Wing from Takhli RTAFB in 1970? His plane was named "The Polish Glider."

Thanks for your consideration,

TW

I remember I already did a similar skin for the F-105, so if you can accept that the camo pattern is a little different (same colors), it will be easier. I'll see what I can do..

That would be fine. I assumed you might use an existing template. I've not been able to locate any 3-view photo that shows all the markings nor a close-up of the air intake to get a better view of the font.

Thanks,

TW

I searched all over the place for that Yankee Air Polack emblem! I almost gave it up. Thanks Jagd!!:applause:

Typhoon Willy, I'm sorry. This took a while. First I have been abroad, and then when i started to do the Polsih Glider I was a bit bit carried away and ended up with a complete new texture set. I was not satisfied with the old one. But here it is.
The Alphasim texture was not really prepared for the " Polish Glider" wingedge text so it's kind of a compromise.

Having spent these hours on the new F105F texture, I think I will use it in a new Thunderchief camo package. Maybe with a new panel too. Stay tuned.

As always another excelent skin Morton. Makes me want to jump in the cockpit and take it for a ride. Thanks a lot.

Thanks very much, Morton! However, I didn't mean for you to go through the trouble of creating an entirely new texture set. Although I'm a Navy guy by trade, I love your F-105D skins, metal and camo. Thanks again!

All of these great repaints of the Vietnam-era aircrafts made me desire setting up a Vietnam War CFS2 install. I found here, at Flightsim-com and Simviation.com some great aircrafts, repaints and modern weapon packs. Flightism.com FS8 aircraft section is particularly rich with F-4 PhantomII's, A-6 Intruders, A-4 Skyhawks and other Vietnam planes, while converting from FS8 to CFS2 is rather easy, with very good results. Expecially when using the conversion routine Morton included in his repaint packs for Ito's A-4 and F-102 FS8 models.

On the other hand, when I searched for sceneries and missions/campaigns, I could only find three modern South Vietnam airports by Ian Elliot and no missions whatsoever. I could not find Tahiland airbases where the B-52's operated, either. I know I could use some WWII Far East bases from Xavierb2's scenery packs, but I already experienced in Korea that they do not always work too well with jets, expecially when they are short dirt strips.

I am aware of only a Vietnam-war US Navy carrier available, too, the USS Oriskany.

Anyone out there knows where I could find missions, sceneries and ships for a Vietnam War CFS2 install, if there are any avilable at all?

Thank you!
KH
