A Panel Question

Hi gang,

I want to adjust the default gun sight for this 2D panel to bring it down closer to the "nose," but not sure what adjustments I need to make to the panel.cfg.

Thanks in advance,

TW

If your screen didn't cut out any of the bottom than you can't lowe the gun sight any more.

TW,
This gunsight doc by SC may help.

cheers

Shessi

It's a zipped doc as a straight doc wasn't accepted...hmmm strange?

Looking at the posted panel pic and if I understand the question correctly you can raise the panel higher to better align the gun sight to the panel.

Look for the section sample I typed below in the panel.cfg and increase the SIZE_Y value. From the pic in your post I think increase the SIZE_Y by a thousand to start with, and check to see if it needs more or less adjustment. When you have it where you want the panel then adjust the VIEW section and/or DP as outlined in the doc Shessi attached in his post above.

Hi all,

Shessi -Thanks for the info, I do have some AC that need the guns adjusted to the gunsight (boresighting?).

Oglivie - I adjusted the y value up to 7000, however, after that, it seems increasing that value any further has no affect.

This is what my panel.cfg looks like:

Hi TW,

Apparantly there is a limit of 7000 then. I noticed the file name indicates 'Hi-Vis' (high visibility) and therefore the panel bitmap is just too low for the CFS2 gun sight. I can't think of anything else to try except to suggest using a different 2d bitmap. I've been using Bruno's Spitfire 2d bitmaps for a variety of Spitfires. Of course when substituting different 2d bitmaps and their panel.cfg, the Vcockpit section(s) should be replaced in the panel.cfg from the airplane's original panel.cfg.

Also if you are using the stock CFS Spitfire airspeed indicator it has a flaw. On my system the needle pegs out (stops advancing) at a certain airspeed, somewhere around 200 or 250 mph if I recall correctly. I reccomend substituting it with the stock Hurricane airspeed indicator (or a third party Brit gauge) in the panel.cfg.

Hi Oglivie,

Thanks for the info, I learned about the "vc rule" in the panel.cfg a long time ago but didn't know about the spitfire gauge. Yes, there was another bmp for this panel that showed all the gauges, I just prefer the hi-vis bmp by itself. I've since located a different spitfire panel to replace this one.

Another thought....

TW,

You could configure your panel.cfg for two panels if you wish to. Put the 2d panel you want to use as default in Window00 and put another 2d panel in Window02 with ident=30. Not sure the ident has to be at 30, it is how my panel.cfg with two 2d panels is set. Also I have Window01 with just ident=10:

[Window01]
ident=10

Not sure if Window01 has to be that way, however I should put it here just incase.

Use the F7 and F9 keys to toggle between the two panels.
