A question about a "Pilotable carrier"

A person on Facebook, who heads up the group named "Touch & Go Aviation Fans", posted the following screenshot of a carrier in P3D. I replied to his post, asking where he got the static Corsair IIs and Intruders on deck. He replied, saying it was a "Pilotable" carrier. My question to him was can this be used as a scenery object for landing, NOT in multiplayer? Really prefer seeing Cold War Era aircraft on deck. Lawn Darts are cool and all, but it was always so awesome to see different types of aircraft for all the various squadrons. So many Lawn Darts.....sort of boring. NC

I agree 'bout them lawn darts, boring... almost like when real cars with chrome bumpers started to look like jelly beans, they all look alike to me. Back in the day, I could tell make/year/model of all
50/60 and some 70's cars (US made). Today, I don't have a clue. Think they copy each other. :adoration:

I agree with you about all the cars looking so similar. Back in the 60s/70s, although there were similarities with all the automakers, there were (in my opinion) more distinguishing details that made each brand unique!

Isn't that carrier part of a recent payware package ?
Anyways, the "scenery object" choice is not a good choice, especially if you don't plan to use it in multiplayer environment.
The best is to use the freeware AICarriers 2.

Am confused as usual. Is this particular Team SDB release ONLY for P3D?

And, if I use the AI Carriers option, will the Cold War Era aircraft AI be on deck??

Assuming the FSX version does not work with P3D.....so would have to purchase P3D version? NC

Looks like you don't have to buy them both. You can get the P3D version and copy manually the files to your FSX, or the contrary.
See this topic, from their official support forum: http://www.glowingheat.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=77

Thanks for your reply. I read through those posts, but didn't see the question posed that I have, which is: If I have the FSX version, will it work in P3D? Is it the same?

Or, do I need to purchase the P3D version, because it is updated somehow? Pete

Ah ok.
Then no, you probably don't need to buy it again. I'm pretty sure it WILL work in P3D (since it works the other way around...). Just like Javier's Nimitz works in P3D. It's just a boat model, with some FSX-Acceleration features (catapults and arrestor cables) which are fully integrated into P3D.
Just try to move the files over to the P3D folders, you will see.
Do you use AICarriers with P3D ?

Thanks for the clarification. I have used AICarriers before, with P3D, but need to reinstall it. I did manually place the Team SDB Enterprise files in their respective P3D directories, but the menu for activating them is apparently different from FSX. How do I activate? Or is it done automatically? Am sure I could Google it. perhaps there's a way to do it with the Migration Tool, which I have. NC

What to you mean with "to activate them" ?

Well, at least with FSX, before I could use scenery that I have added to it, I have to go into the Scenery Library, and actually "tell" FSX to use that specific scenery.

Menu is different with P3D.

Ah, then if I understand correctly, this carrier comes with some sceneries too ?
The procedure to declare sceneries is still the same than in FSX. The thing is: you can't access the scenery library from the main menu. You have to launch a flight, then go into the menus at the top of the screen. The scenery library is in one of them, and it was also there in FSX.

NC you are confusing AI ships with scenery files. Our Enterprise for FSX and P3D is a ship model which resides in SimObjects/Boats as opposed to a scenery bgl which resides in Addon Scenery. The FSX Enterprise model is EXACTLY the same model as the P3D model. The difference is mainly the dedicated installers and additional LSO voices in P3D. The only files requiring activation are the carrier traffic files in two folders in Addon Scenery. You'll find answers to your questions here http://www.glowingheat.co.uk/forum/viewforum.php?f=8

Not to toot our horn but that top image is just beautiful, even in the dull late 1980's version with subdued markings on the aircraft. Thanks to Sylvain Parouty the Team SDB Enterprise is just amazing.

Thanks:mixed-smiley-010: I briefly read through the PDFs on both the FSX and P3D. Did not discern any differences. NC
Not really. Just some rewriting on getting around since P3Dv1 didn't have the front end screen like FSX -- everything was accessed from the drop down menus. Also since P3D didn't have any missions with audio we had to make new LSO audio files. And the F-18 wasn't included with P3D so we used one of the bundled IRIS trainers for the included flights. Otherwise there is no difference in the ship itself. I have been told that it works great in P3Dv2.4 so that is good news for sure. And the standard price was lowered for all versions a couple months ago.

By chance, are the LSO audio files available for download by themselves, to preclude having to buy the new P3D version? :wiggle: Thanks, NC
