Hello all,
In World War 2, I have footage of German pilots removing the aerodynamic housings on the landing gear to expose the spats. This was done to prevent mud and dirt build up in harsh theatres. The aircraft that i know of having this feature was the Ju-87 and Hs-123. My question is: Does removing the aerodynamic spats increase aerodynamic effieincy or not? Also, are they rated to make the aircraft easier to land without causing bumpiness?
I shall have footage of this thread should anyone answer or have any other issue.
