A recently restored PC and FSX

heywooood

Mayor Emeritus of Taco City
Having been forced to cease all virtual flight activities by a corrupted OS and hard drive I have finally been restored to active flight duty...and its true - you don't fully realize how much the simple pleasures matter..until they are taken away.

It has been since February (not long in the grand scheme of things) that I was greeted by my rig at start up with an awful reality - I could open all of my programs but two...FSX and RoF.

I was not pleased - but I was completely strapped as we were budgeting for our son and daughter in laws' wedding and honeymoon vacation.

As it was - the PC was functional in every other regard - so we carried on with it as it was - but I was not whole...

I took it to a great repair / custom build shop here in town finally last week - and have gotten my FSX and RoF reinstalled and re-tweaked and now... well - its running better than it was before - with no real upgrades to the hardware at all.

Now I would like to thank especially Javier Fernandez and Dino Cattaneo for these two excellent works as well as Lamont Clark of aicarriers2
fame for making simulated naval aviation possible and enjoyable in FSX

thank you olaf1924

I used Picasa 3 to edit the shot...it is a great freeware program for editing that I highly recommend to anyone who hasn't tried it yet.

I am glad you like it...it is my desktop for now

Hey I keep telling people it doesn't take a CRAY computer to enjoy FSX, just a well tuned one! Great pic Heywood. I did a double-take on that one myself! Congrats my friend!

Well angled shot, apart from the HDR effect which is a bit overdone (aircraft too bright).

thank you Ted - your input on all things FSX and PC related are always most helpful. :salute:

Bjoern - thats why all the settings are adjustable I guess - I was going for a misty late-afternoon effect with a fog bank looming and a slanting sun providing just the type of glow that is illustrated in the shot - it might be slightly exaggerated in the name of artistic license

one mans castle I guess...

Great shot heywood! And fantastic to see you back in action!! Hey,How was The Wedding/Honeymoon?

Hey BOOM - its good to be back in FSX again.

My son is married to the most wonderful young woman and the ceremony was as near perfect as it could have been...except for the old proud drunken Scotsman

As to the Honeymoon - the kids got to spend a week in Maui... wooohooo

and the Canadian....Ant you're a bloody genius - now if you could just make a Stearman PT-13 or PT-17 of this magnitude..

The most important thing is that you like it.
Pleasing other tastes is purely secondary. ;)

Heywood those are some great shots. Ain't it awesome when you get FSX and computer working the way it's supposed to???? WOOOOHOOOOO!
