A Request for Scenery Developer for Payware Product

Bomber_12th

SOH-CM-2025
Hi all,

I am on the search for any talented and experienced scenery creators who would be interested in producing an English airfield as it stands today. This airfield needed is Hardwick, also known as the home to the 93rd BG museum. This isn't the original airbase, but rather the structures that remain outside of the airfield, where on the same premises, is a grass runway and the hangar/home to Maurice Hammond's P-51D's "Janie" and "Marinell" and other vintage aircraft - the "Hardwick Warbirds". This airfield is not available in default FSX, nor in any other available scenery product. The scenery will be included in an up-coming Warbirdsim payware product, and I will discuss the payment method I have devised with any person(s) with a serious offer.

I'd prefer the scenery to be based on an aerial-photo base image in the sim, though it isn't absolutely important that the airfield has this photo-scenery base, as long as everything is accurately placed. It would also be a major benefit if the scenery could be made to fit right into/onto either the Horizon or Just Flight photo scenery addons for England, while at the same time just as good with the default FSX scenery.

Anyone who would be interested in taking on this project would be requested to perform most of the research themselves, as other parts of the larger product are also being worked on, though I'll assist with providing all of the research and photos I can, and help you to ensure everything is as accurate as possible. The amount of detail to be incorporated is completely up to you, with no other requirements than to produce the airfield base, all critical buildings/structures, and trees/plant growth where necessary - to take it further than this, is completely up to any interested person(s).

Here are some links that may be useful in understanding what is requested. It's a small airfield.

If you are interested, or may know someone or some group that would be, please let me know via PM. From there I'll be willing to discuss development time and payment.

Thanks!

For added clarification, the airfield is located almost immediately west of Beccles, UK.

Here is a Google-maps image showing the circled airfield, and how it is located next to the location of the former wartime base.

The Google-maps image shows just the airfield itself, and the location of the structures. Quonset-style hangar on the far left, is the hangar which houses "Janie" and "Marinell" as well as the few other actively flown warbirds on the airfield.

Can't help you there John, but I love the links.
Great story of that lady, reunited with the plane named after her, Marinell.
And there seems to be quite a lot of nice events on the airport.

Cheers, Rob

It does make for a lovely atmosphere to operate warbirds. Having Horizon's VFR Gen-X Vol. 2 scenery for England, it's easily found as long as you know where to look (though of course it is simply terrain, I couldn't resist taking off and landing from the field in the past).

- There is one interested individual right now, looking into whether or not he can fit the work into his schedule.

These videos were filmed at this very airfield, and provide an additional look at it (Maurice Hammond's daughter can often be seen flying the family's AT-6):

Here's a great interview with the original Marinell:

. . . . . .There is one interested individual right now, looking into whether or not he can fit the work into his schedule. . . . . . .
I would think that with all his research material and past work, this would be right up IanP's alley. This is basically what he does (WWII UK Bases).

There are going to be a lot more experienced scenery developers coming in here to help. I will help out anyway I can though... love to see those 51's in their own scenery!

Lets see who drops in and maybe we can split some work up.

I am currently finishing up Grimes Airfield in PA and then can turn my attention in this direction... another week or so.
