A WIP teaser

I checked my e-mail a couple days ago and found a nice surprise...and early BETA version of a nice Russian trainer plane...the Yak-18. This is the original 5-cylinder radial powered Yak-18, with its lumpy bumpy cowl. The modeling is tight, the VC is stunning. Lots of clickables. The author had a rough spell in his life and is moving beyond it now and getting back to work on the Yak-18. No idea when it will be finished.....even as good as it looks presently, there is still a good bit of work to be done on the bird and its FDE set.

Here are some teaser shots.

In the pics I see 'SLEW'. What's up with that? Are the wheels dug into the asphalt? (Let me at it-hehe).

I believe the Yak-18 in your pic is the U model. Up engined to a 9-cylinder radial.

Yes, the pics were taken in slew mode. The FDE set that came with the package is from one of the stockers. The FDE set for the Yak-18 is still under development. Sitting on the runway, the plane bounces like crazy...so I put the sim into SLEW mode to stop the bouncing to take the screen shots.

There was an episode of "Flightpath" a few years back that featured a gathering of Yaks and Nanchangs out in either Penticton or Kelowna, British Columbia. When I saw that bumpy-nosed version I knew right away that given the choice, that'd be the bird I'd want to fly.

Obio,
HeHe. I knew it. Look for a missing ',' (comma) in the 'wheels' lines (ie:=1). Comment out all the scrapes (ie: = 2) lines. Try it again. Or PM me the cnt pts lines and I got a Yak around here somewhere and I'll tweak them 'close enough for horseshoes' for you. Should take me 5 minutes. Just be sure to include the 'Ref Datum Pos' and 'Ctr of Bal' lines (weight and balance section) IF they are not '0,0,0'.

At the moment, the FDE is not an issue as the package is not close being finished yet. A FDE set is being purpose built for the Yak-18....starting from scratch to develop a set that is tailored to this plane. Not by me, but by someone with real ability to work with flight dynamics. I have already received additional e-mails from the maker informing me of progress made in the past couple of days (such as the pilot figures being placed into the plane).
