Hi,
just want to tell you a bit of my experience so far with my most succesful Pilot yet.
Started a campaign with Jasta 6 on 20. of April. Realism is at 90%. It began with some patrols but without result. Then there were some scramble missions in a row and at the first two i was knocked out pretty soon, but without getting killed. So as i gained experience i went to a third scramble misson and managed to down a spad...and was knocked out. i didn't even realized i downed one. The claim sheet appeared so i wrote it exactly as it was and that i dind't see him crash. What then happened i can't tell exactly but since then i had about 35 missions and got six downed enemies confirmed, one rejected, without getting a scratch. Besides one time when we were jumped by about eight Spads against four of us. The whole wing was shot down in flames and i managed to escape and land near one observation ballons. the thing why this sim is absolutely great is, i got 6 confirmations and 1 rejection, one still waiting for a decision. i simply write down what i experienced and what i saw, exactly as it happened. i can almost feel the gaining of experience and the improvement of SA. the feeling of when to engage and when to stalk and when to run. last mission we encountered two nieuports and i saw some sort of painting on their fuselage. after some circling i recognized a native indian head painted so i knew they were from the escadrille lafayette. i downed one and wrote the claim exactly as i saw. i think that is the key of getting confirmations. write your report like you write your missions in this forum. as detailed as possible. one thing i have to admit is i am cheating by using the radar so i know where the enemie is. that's a huge factor which is probably the reason why i survived so far. so my head is still on the ground. with my next character i am going only to use the radar whith "ships" on so i don't see anything besides the line indicating the direction where to go to my next waypoint. if i get surprised by enemies, it is going to be my own fault, as it was with thousands of the real victims. looking forward for this. as the next step i don't want to use this indicator at all but a real map.
what a great sim. :applause:

Great report, thanks, CREAGHORN!
I'll try that about the claim reports. And yes - the TAC is a very big help, as without it, we would miss many a plane or even flight.
Today, I did a Quick flight with three Albatros D Va against three Camels.
I had two shot down (Veterans), but couldn't find the third anymore. Had he left? I switched on TAC, and marked the target. There, in a distance, was that yellow circle. We flew over a forrest, and even at a range of 1.000 feet, I couldn't see him. Suddenly tracers from out of the green! He had flown along a forrest road, then suddenly pulled up and fired! I managed to perform a very quick break right, flew a curve, and round we went.
I have developed a dive-in tactic to get into a Camel's tight curve, and so after three rounds, I had him. It's enough to shoot up their tail / rudder - after that, he was easy meat, and I shot him to pieces.
But without the TAC - he might have rather got me shot up?

Still though, I have the same idea for a future Campaign. TAC on, but on "ships". We'll see, how far we get...

Ok.
rule 1. if you have a succesful pilot, don't talk about it. just got shot down by a two seater :faint:
rule 2. if you engage a group of two seaters, don't think they are going to flee and leaving their mate alone. they don't.
rule 3. watch your back every now and then. if you hear some strange whistling around your ears, it's not your tv on the other side of your room with some mtv cellphone sound commercial. it's not.

ok. just started my new career with jasta 4 january 1917. i will use the radar with ships on just to know where to go.

way to go olham. nice report. if you can't outturn them, use b'n z as tactic. difficult to learn. if you master it, thats pretty cool.:ernae:
flew my first mission with a halb. i was used to the albatros and the halb feels like a paper plane compared to it.

Yes, the Halberstadt is a nice plane, but you'd miss the fire power and ruggedness of the Alb, when you had it before. But nice flying, light. My very first flight on BHaH I did with her - free flight, just overlooking the landscape, bathed in late summer's afternoon gold. A dream come true...

I have three Campaigns started now.
1. with Jasta 5, 1916, flying Albatros D II (sheer fun - so superior to the Nupes)
2. with Jasta 2 (I think), mid 1916, flying Halberstadts (challenging, but the Nupes and DH 2's also have only one gun)
3. with Jasta (?), early 1918, flying Albatros D Va (whatever the crumpets come up with - 1.100 rounds beats that!)
