About AlphaSim Meteor for CFS2...

I bought the Alphasim Meteor for CFS2 a few months before it was released free. Unfortunately the CFS2 air file had been overwritten by the FS airfile at some point by Alphasim, and they didn't have the CFS2 air file any more :-(

I just replaced the air and aircraft.cfg with the 1% Me 262 files and it worked fairly well, although I've never spent the time to check how close they were in actual flight characteristics.

Alphasim allowed me to download another aircraft for free as compensation.

If anyone does have the original, working air file for the Meteor - please post it up at SOH?

cheers,

Steve

Here is an updated flight model by Oglive.

Change the .txt to .air.

Thanks Jagdflieger, but still refuses to fly. In flight, engines won't start and controls don't respond :gameoff:, and in the ground it still shakes (though much less violently than the original) and also can't start it.

Very strange.

EDIT: I've found an older Gloster Meteor by DieStaffel. I'll try to adapt it by doing very simple changes to engine and fuel tank positions and see how it works. If someone with better skills wants to try it, please do :icon_lol:.

Try this one. This is the original Alpha Meteor CFS2 *.air file.
Of course, change *.txt to *.air

I think maybe the [weight_and_balance] section Moment Of Inertia (MOI) could be missing in the aircraft.cfg file. Thus CFS2 is grabbing these values from the air file (section 1001) and the roll MOI value appears to be set quite low in the air file that I made available. I don't know, but possible it maybe effecting the engine start problem also.

Aircraft.cfg entry:

[weight_and_balance]
// ACM V2.2
max_gross_weight = 13800
empty_weight = 8140
reference_datum_position = 0, 0, 0
empty_weight_CG_position = -0.14, 0, 0
empty_weight_pitch_MOI = 27853
empty_weight_roll_MOI = 19613
empty_weight_yaw_MOI = 23307
empty_weight_coupled_MOI = 0
max_number_of_stations = 1
station_load.0 = 200.000, 5.960, 0.000, 1.890

It just doesn't fly right. Well, actually it doesn't fly at all. Just spins and spins and falls, even stopped on the ground :isadizzy:. I guess there is something wrong with the flight model, but I'm absolutely useless at that.

Has anybody found a solution?. In case the answer is no, any suggestions for a substitute WW2 Meteor?.

I'm having the sme problem with Akemi's Ki-78, it's unflyble.

Give these a try....a matching set of air and config files. NO shimmy, no shake, plane flies sweet. Performance seems to be spot on. I used the CFS2 air file attached by Stirlitz and used Air Wrench to create a matching config file.
