These five missions are a set of campaigns involving Richard (Dick) Bong and Tommy Lynch of 39th Fighter Squadron, 475th Fighter Group, in General Kenney's 5th Air Force, New Guinea. The missions occurred during the Allied offensive of the spring 1944, when Captain Bong returned from the States on a War Bond drive and leave to his home in Wisconsin.
