Active Sky Evolution . Your settings?

YoYo

SOH-CM-2023
Hello,
Im owner Active Sky Evo with last update 642 but from the begining when AS Evo update the weather my FPS in FS goes crazy. I notice "stuttering" in FPS for this time of update. If it is only for begining, like it was f.ex. in AS 6.5 its ok, but after 15 minutes of VFR flight AS Evo again starts to write new weather according meteo station. Stuttering and small disappointment again.

What are your settings of Yours Active Sky Evo ? Any idea? Do You have this "stuttering" too? Here is mine settings:

Thx in advance!

I have everything maxed out. Updates every minute to keep the weather fresh ( for hurricane flying ).. Textures are all HD ( 4096 ? ) and i do take a frame rate hit over NY Chi town, LA and Tokyo but nomaly dont fly there that much...

i stopped using active sky and just use the FSX user defined...i found i would start active sky,,start FSX everything was fine,,then while it was pouring rain at kaun/beale afb..in FSX i had bright sunshine..so i started shutting it down and looking and active sky was somewhere else...usually some airport ( or metar station) in europe....so i stopped using it waist of money in my opinion.

Was "lock to closest" selected in the ASE report screen?

Did you try asking about the problem on the HiFi Sim support forum on Avsim? Jim Skorna is extremely helpful, as are other users.

Might be worth running the problem down and giving it another try before you write it off as a waste of money.

No mistake at all! We're all stumbling through the FSX woods together, and visibility isn't always great for any of us... :salute:

Now that I think of it, I'm not sure that "lock to closest" will be a cure (though anything's worth a try). I believe what that does is get you conditions from the closest reporting station if you're at a non-reporting airport. That might or might not be relevant depending on where you're starting your flight.

But you definitely shouldn't be getting conditions from some other continent. Something's wrong in the setup or the install.

I'm surprised you didn't get a reply at their forum though I guess they sometimes miss things. Maybe worth a re-post. The thing is, when ASE is working, it's so much better than FSX weather that there's really no comparison. Just the treatment of the haze layer, and the ability to avoid sudden weather "pops" with the right settings, is worth the price of admission. Not all the setup parameters are all that intuitive, and I'm still figuring out how to fine-tune it. But it's a terrific add-on. Hope you'll stick with it.

I'll look at my setup and see if I can come up with anything that looks like it might be causing your problem. But do check out their forums again in the meantime.

Hope this helps.

ill look at it again......i understood the nearest to mean like i do have it...so i start at auburn(kaun),but they only use Beale AFB weather in game i guess,,but like i said..when the sim starts up and im in the cockpit...nothing is as it is in california at the time...the clock is correct though........wierd?....maybe it is my settings...but everything works when i dont use active sky
