You can add that folder into P3D any time actually or a lot of people keep addon scenery either on a separate drive or on the same drive just outside of the sim folder.
Many (most) scenery addons made up until very recently actually add the folder to the P3D root anyway. I ran P3D like that until 3.1 without any issues at all, until I decided to use a separate SSD drive for all scenery addons, simply for speed loading.
Dashdell, yes but if the scenery has some effect files included you will have to add them to the effects folder in the root P3D or install the whole thing using the procedure for add ons in the SDK.
Actually the addon scenery folder can we at any location on your PC or HD setup. It has no connection with the main sim folder. Only remember to link the new scenery in the scenery menu.
No luck so far. I've tried putting the new scenery in the root directory, and in a new Addon Scenery folder, and also tried getting it from elsewhere outside the sim, but in all cases when I try to activate it I get a "fatal error".
