Aero Club Como, Italy - World's Oldest Seaplane Base.

SOH-CM-2025
Come join me in a seaplane to visit the world's oldest continuously operating seaplane base, the Como Aero Club on Lake Como, Italy. Also tour the lake and see why it is a playground for the rich and famous. Visit the town of Bellagio, the "pearl of the lake". Hope you enjoy. Cheers.

Beautiful!! It would make a wonderful tour for lagaffe's Porco Rosso Savoia S-21!!

Even if that's not the case, one can easily imagine Hotel Adriano island in the middle of the lake:

Oh boy, that takes me back - sitting in the Riva is my late dear friend who was a member of the Aero Club, and lived in Como. The mechanic was struggling with an electrical fault, and while I was waiting, another local came along and asked if I wanted a flip around the lake in the Piper.
A bit of a no-brainer, but what he didn't tell me was that he enjoyed aerobatics, and we actually looped in that Piper. Not, I think, recommended in floatplanes...

A couple of years ago, my brother had a nostalgic return to Como, and brought me this fascinating book, which tells the aviation history of the town.

A magical place......thanks so much for the video !

The single hour I have in my logbook on floats is from that amazing place back in 2013 when we were visiting with my wife and daughter. A unique experience. I still have their contact in case I decide to get the rating.

Thank you for the memories!
