Aeronca in FSX

dhasdell

SOH-CM-2023
Among my favourites in FS9 were the Long Island Classic Aeroncas. As far as I know there is still nothing similar in FSX, apart from the GAS C3, so I've tried the LIC ones, but come up against the prop issue. Has anyone solved it, please? The passenger/wheel spats selector doesn't work either, but that's less important.

There's a wonderful Piper Pacer available that is very, very like my Aeronca Chief from both the cockpit, and in terms of flight dynamics. It's the best I've found for getting my virtual Aeronca fix. It would be nice if someone would do the Champ, though.

Try this prop texture. I fly likski's champ all the time. The hot spots for removing/adding wheel spats, door, passenger, etc all still work. There is just no icon visiable on the pop up panel. N3547E was owned by me many years ago. I was on the beta team when likski was developing this model so he included this paint for me.

Oh, I forgot. I actually have that one. Haven't had it installed in a long time, though. The Pacer is a newer and higher quality model, I think.

Can't be a lot in common between a Piper Pacer and an Aeronca Champ, except both being high wings and taildraggers?

You'll notice I said my Chief, not a Champ. The cockpit of the Lionheart Pacer is indeed very much like my 11AC Chief, including the framing in the cockpit. It flies quite similarly as well.

Apologies, didn't read it correctly. Now, if someone did a Chief, I would buy that straight away. Did a lot of hours in them in the 90s, including a 9 hour trip to the Western Isle of Scotland from London. Am very surprised that no one has built one in the past.

Cheers,

Martin

Thanks for all the replies, and especially RD for the prop texture. With that and a replacement glass texture I now have a couple of LIC Aeroncas working happily in P3d, with only VC hotspots needing keyboard commands.

I already have the RealAir package, and I've noted the CR1 for future reference.

BIG Cheif.

Speaking of Aeroncas, I'd love to see one of my personal favourites go FSX native - the Aeronca 15AC Sedan. A good looking four seater with a big, airy cabin that kinda reminds of a flying "Florida room"...

Of course. Very nice man! Logbook says have flown in IVOR (name of first British registered owner - used to be EI-BKB) 37 times. Most of my Chief time was in BRXL 'Fat Bullet' out of North Weald. She was also one of my first colour schemes as in about 1990 took up the markings worn by an impressed Chief into USAAF service, thus becoming a L-3F.
