Aeroplane Heaven P-47D Problem

I have an interesting problem and that is when in VC mode, the windshield and canopy appear black. But this only happens with the birdcage model, the bubble top models are fine. In the 2d mode, the birdcage models appear fine but the bubbletop models, the windshield and canopy appear black. As Arte Johnson would say, 'Very Strange.'

You are missing a texture called "canopyreflect". If you can find it amongst your other P47 folders, copy it and stick it in all the texture folders. If not, drop me a PM and I'll get you sorted.:engel016:

Thanks Bazzar for your input. Do you think the canopy reflect file might be in the A2A WOP3 P-47?

bazzar,

I just checked my install, and I have the same problem, black windows in the razorbacks, clear in the bubbletops. I cannot find the "canopyreflect" file in my folders either.

I also have another major problem, the sim freezes and crashes seconds after loading the two bubbletops. I've flown them many times in the FS version, but haven't, until now, tried the FSX versions, so don't know what is happening. Tried removing the FS9GPS callouts in the panel cfgs, but that didn't help.

The models are getting a little arthritic now. We made them 8 years ago.
As you know we don't have a support system anymore but I think what I will do is upload the texture fix to SOH files for anyone who has the P47s. I had quite forgotten them and put them into FSX the other day to check the problem. Had a fun half hour buzzing around in the contra-prop!:engel016:

Installed that file you e-mailed and everything is AOK. Thanks bazzar for your most appreciated assistance

If you would like to fix the problem with black windows, let me have your e-mail address and I can send you the file that bazzar sent me.

File uploaded. Should fix all including the Malcolm Hood version.

I am reminded of a fabulous email I received from Larry Kuhl, the pilot of Dottie Mae when it crashed in the Austrian lake and is now being restored to flight. He loved our model and thanked us for putting him back in the cockpit of Dottie after 60 years.:engel016:

Just downloaded the file from the library. Thanks Baz.

Won't be able to get it checked out for a few days. hope I can figure out why the bubbletops are freezing/crashing the sim. The birdcage ones fly fine, except for black windows.

Speaking of "Dottie Mae" (the only surviving combat-vet P-47 of the European Air War), some recent photos of the restoration were just posted towards the bottom of this thread here: http://warbirdinformationexchange.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=44815

The fuselage is essentially complete and the wings have been under restoration over the past year or so (and you can see how advanced they are). They've been utlizing as much of the original parts as possible (including the original bubble-top canopy glass). I can't wait to see the finished results, especially when she takes to the air again.
