Aerosoft Bush Hawk XP

I'm considering adding this plane to my fleet. I've read the reviews on this model and did a forum search for opinions. But it is two years old now and I was wondering how it has withstood the test of time. Anyone who bought it still like it, or is it getting to be long in the tooth? Any opinions appreciated.
 
Its a very good aircraft IMO. It will give a hit on the frames, but when you have FSX on the right settings it looks great - not as good as some of the latest , such as the Orbx lancair, but still very good. The assisted flights are also quite good, except for the fact that they dont have voices of say passengers or crew - the also dont have a voice over except for in the the first "Introductory" flight. Be aware though, it will take a modern system to run it! If I didnt turn down my scenery, it would be a slideshow.

Thanks SADT. I have a pretty high end system, I haven't found anything yet that slows it down although I did see that FPS was an issue with this model. Also read the assisted flights were pretty good. How is it with short field performance?
 
Short field is very good, and it will climb at about 900FPM with 2 people and 1/2 fuel. Watch out though - with a full load of passengers/cargo it is VERY tail heavy and will require lots of nose down trim to counteract, even in a high angle climb! THis is realistic AFAIK.
 
As long as you can stand the horrible avionics, its an OK plane. I think the $$$ can be better spent elsewhere.

I don't have it installed anymore, FWIW.
 
I enjoy this little utility bird. I never had too many issues with FPS on my system, but I'm also running a Core i7 overclocked with a Nvidia 285. When I made the video, it wasn't quite as good a system, but she still handled fine with negligible FPS hits.

There are some pretty neat features in this plane, especially the night lighting. Lots of variants to keep you busy too. If you find yourself tutting around the backwoods, I would recommend this bird.

The only problem I have with the plane is I don't seem to spend much time with her anymore... but I can say that about almost everything I have. If you are looking for other good bush planes, the Aerosoft Beaver (although a bit dated), Aerosoft Twotter, Flight Replicas Super Cub, A2A Simulations Piper Cub, CR-1 Aeronca, Carenado 185 and lastly the SibWings Bird Dog fit the bill well. There are others, but my mind went blank for the moment.

In terms of quality, I feel she rests well in the group of planes listed above. It's the features list that this plane has that puts her solidly in there.

Thanks for all the input. I do mostly bush flying, but having a short attention span I'm always looking for something new. CodyValkyrie, I have all the planes you listed with the exception of the Beaver (precisely because it's dated) and the SibWings Bird Dog.

I've been very tempted to get the Bird Dog but their installation protections really turned me off. I certainly understand how difficult it is to combat piracy and don't blame them one iota for the extra steps but at some point it becomes more of a hassle than it's worth for the customer and I guess they reached that point with me. Not that I've completely ruled it out though. :mixedsmi:
 
I have both, but following a recent FSX reinstall only have reinstalled the Bird Dog. Says it all, really! The Bush Hawk didn't light my fire like some.

I have the Birddog and have reinstalled ..it can be a little complicated but Sibwings are very helpful if you run into problems....you wont regret buying the Bird Dpog..its my favourite bushplane..dont have the Hawk but I do have the Carenado 185 and had the Realair Scout in FS9 and its superior to both IMV

That's nice to hear about the Bird Dog. Especially the help with the reinstall since they say the original link they send is only good for one installation. But if they're helpful with a reinstall should I ever need to do that it would certainly help sway me to buy it. I have the 185 as well Naki, never did pick up the Realair Scout although I've been tempted. But...off to take a second look at the Bird Dog for now.
 
I am a VRF pilot 98% of the time and this bird is on the bottom of the many bush planes I have and fly...invest your money somewhere else specially if you like VFR....
 
I decided to go with the Sibwings Bird Dog. Download and installation went easily without a hitch. So far I've only had about 5 minutes with, but it was an impressive 5 minutes. I should have more time with it later this evening. Love that panel.
 
Although I seem to be late in this thread as you already made your selection, I would also suggest the Flight Replicas Super Cub, a classic bushplane imho. I also have the A2A Cub which is excellent with Accusim but the Super cub has much more power and flaps and can do more fun take offs and landings, especially the extreme versions with the big tyres.

It's never too late to make suggestions! :wavey: I do have both the FR Cub and the A2A Cub with Accusim. Both of them are excellent.
