Aeroworx Kingair B200

Having purchased the Aeroworx Kingair B200 I fired up the sim and went for a flight. Well, I mean I tried. I must be overlooking something related to the hydraulics or something. All systems are running fine. Or so it seems. Taxi to the runway for take off, speed=full throttle w/quarter flaps. But It won't let go of the runway and take to the air. I know I got to be missing something.

Anyone?

that I am just trying to get it in the air and doing a ctrl/e to get it spooled up and going. I'll read the manual after I get some ink for my printer and get it printed up.

Don't know about the Aeroworx Kingair and about its system depth (hydraulics?).
First thing to look at might be the prop RPM / pitch setting...
By default, this parameter should be set to 'full' when starting a flight, but maybe a gauge is overriding it, setting it to low RPM to prevent her from creeping.

Just a thought.

Cheers,
Markus.

My apology for the term hydraulics. I call it that not knowingly as I am new to flying anything other than control wire/rod type aircraft in reality. And in the sim. This Kingair is going to be a real challenge in my ability to learn by the book procedures.

My apology for the term hydraulics.

No need to, mate!
Just wanted to point to an item that's possibly to be activated seperately. I remember the awesome Yak-18T: Without switching the hydraulic system (quite hidden switch in the VC), the Yak's flaps won't engage...

A couple things to note:
You can and will probably do a hot start if you havent read the manual yet. Until then, select Aeroworx from the sims top bar and turn off all realism features. This will give you a pretty much standard FS9 airplane.

Long, long, long attempts at takeoff:
1. Make sure the autopilot is off. It might be on from a previous FS flight/aircraft.
2. the wing-fold command sets the chocks and covers. if not removed you will have a very long attempt at takeoff.

They did an excellent job of replicating this aircraft. Once you get the real world starting procedures down and the added wear and tear goodies activated, you will really like this bird.

Thanks for the help Dognot.
...I'll check settings for realism. In the meantime I guess I might have to wait for printer ink!

It's all in the trim. Make sure you have 3 degrees "nose-up" trim for takeoff and you should be fine.

Also, the flaps are for approach and landing....you shouldn't need them for departure.

Reading the manual + checklists is a must for this aircraft.

Boy, I've tried trim all over the nose up side. This one must be spot on and by the book of grail.

Thank you

3 degrees up trim prior to take and turning down the realism did the trick. I finally got to get the Kingair airborne. She's a real looker. Thanks for the tips!
....And thank you for the link to the Kingair forum Les. I will need a lot of assistance learning the systems and procedures in about everything involved with this model. I'm keeping my finger crossed that I have the patience to follow through.

Do stick with it...it is one amazingly accurate simulation of the real thing. Not just because the vendor claims it is so but verified by actual King Air 200 pilots.
I have let a friend who flies one as a corporate pilot try his hand at the AW 200 on my setup and he was impressed with the fidelity.
He said some of the "cheaper" FAA approved simulators did not feel so close to the real thing.
Of course they are intended more for systems training and failure practices during annual recurrency sessions.

I managed to get in a few flights with this beauty. She flies very nice.
...I added the wide screen panel for 2D and VC, and what a different world. It really opens up the dash panel and overall viewing immersion. I'm liking it the more I fly :jump:

Nice, I've applied.
For folks who don't have this bird: it has arguably the best all-round consistency of any FS model.
This means the model is good, the sounds are good, the handling is to the same standard.
It just feels totally right.
Here's a quick clip I made (when trying out some Shockwave lights on it.)
Too late I realised I should be showcasing the superb RNZAF paint Morne Pieters did.
Next time, then.
