AFS Design "Payware" Mig-21 for both FS9 and FSX !

From my past experiences with AFS products I now avoid them like the plague. Looks, Flight dynamics, effects, documentation are all overlooked. I don't usually like to complain but this isn't some freeware designer knocking one up in his spare time this is something you spend hard earned cash on. Unless this product is a radical departure from the rest it ain't worth it. The only company worse than afs is abacus.

Isn't it AFS Design that was selling military planes with default Cessna gauges in the cockpit ?
I would be VERY carefull with that new addon. Especially considering the fact that there is already a geat freeware Mig-21 available, with a better-looking virtual cockpit (at least, better than the screenshots on that site)...

My old Captainsim MiG-21 has gone on the blink :gameoff: :censored:, so I would kill for a link to the freeware one (if it is FS9 compatible that is).

Cheers,
Sascha

I forgot to say that I agree with the warning on AFS - I bought the Phantom (CD-Version) and was quite disappointed with it - it left my hangar permanently after a few token flights! If you look at the screens of the new MIG-21, the pilot's heads seem way oversized compared to real photos.

its' the one by Jan Moravec on this page -----> http://www.flightsim.cz/fsitem.php?act=show&menu=4&gr=28&lan=1&sor=3

Model of MiG-21 F-13 airplane, created by Gmax. Licence production of this type in Czechoslovakia started in 1963 at Aero Vodochody. During nine years there was created 195 planes at all. For its simplicity and low cost operating this plane was almost 30 years important unit of Czechoslovakian anti-aircraft home defence. Archive include 2 versions of model, full clickable VC with custom gauges and sounds by Jan Moravec.

Yes that's the one! Thanks for the link Pete :)
Here is how it looks like. It's a FS9 model that works perfectly in FSX (DirectX9 of course)

And this is the virtual cockpit:

Yep, this guy that is AFS Designs has a long history of ripping off the sim community, from his early works where he attached large placards all over his "freeware" aircraft and then charged $5 a pop to remove them, if you did all of them (and why would you just leave a few) it cost around $25 bucks and this was before FSX, to his current military offerings that sport default gauges and poor modeling. Stay clear of anything with the AFS label.

Oh dear God !!!

please NO more addons from AFS !!! :gameoff:....LOL ! Jan's freeware is by far the best !!! That's of course ONLY my oppinion ! AFS is trash in my eyes...maybe only in my eyes ???

Andi

A Visit to LHSM

I had Jan's MiG, then lost it.
Now thanks to this thread, found again, thanks!
Any Hungarian repaints for this bird?

Daube, where did you get that paint from? When I was 10 I made an airfix model of the MiG21 in that livery and spent hours pretending to fly it. I'd love to do it again in FS9.

The finish one from Daube is a FSX repaint. I had this one a few month ago reworked for FS9. But unfortunatly I had a HDD crash. This one was made by Yago.... I think.

And yes its like an Airfix Kit's paint...still remember this one. It was my first Mig ;-)

Search for Yago or Mig at the usual sites... than you'll find it. If not? Let me know ;-)

It's a repaint, but I don't think it is FSX-specific.
It can be found at flightsim.com, and perhaps here as well, but I don't remember who did it.

I agree with your judgement on the poor quality of some of the AFS aircraft, guys!

But to be fair with this designer:
A lot of those payware aircraft are released as a free demo too, so everybody can perform a quick test hop before purchasing. After one minute in his Phantom, I decided to leave the shopping cart empty... :d

Cheers,
Markus.

By the way !

Concerning the AFS Design Mig-21 screenshots, take a closer look at the pilot and
compared it to real photos.

AFS Desing pilot is probably overscaled at 130 %, may be at 145 % !
This is really what we called a "Turn Off" !

Behemoth pilot?

This oversized guy may be an accurate mutant?

We all know about the terrible effects of radiation, and the Tschernobyl meltdown is just 24 years ago... :d

His F-4 Phantom ??? "censored" and "censored" and of course "censored"... Every freeware is 1000 times better !!! Or milliontimes ???

take a look at his "Laage scenery"... You'll find clouds and blue skys in the "very cheap made forrests"

And please take a look at his read me and explanation texts... Okay, My english is far away from "understandable" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <----- !

But has he ever visitet a school ??? :wiggle:
