AI Aircraft Compilation

With so many experts at hand, I would like to know whether it is possible to make a compilation of the AI aircraft, so they do not show up in the fs9 aircraft folder?
I mainly use the WOA and MAIW addons.
There are more AI entries than actual flyable models.

Cheers,

Stuart

I may be wrong but i dont think you can, unlike scenery which you can store pretty much anywhere, inside or outside your install, an aircraft model, ai or flyer, has to be in your aircraft folder, it would be great if i could keep them seperate as i have twice as many ai as i do flyers, but i dont think it can be done.

Do you mean in the aircraft selection list ingame Stuart? There is a 'switch' in the airfile which makes the aircraft 'invisible' for the list, but so few designers/publishers use it - bit of a bugbear of mine. Someday soon I'm going to have to go through my installs with a copy of Aired and make the changes myslef, which is a real time consuming pain.

I've used FS Aircraft Typer for a long time, it should still be around in the usual places.
You just toggle the selected aircraft as "aircraft", "helicopter" or "non-flyable" and save in one hit.
"Non-flyable" doesn't show up in the aircraft selection list in the sim.

You are a star!!! That looks like a little gem, just downloaded it from Flightsim and will give it a try later. :applause::guinness:

Alternatively, assuming you just want the AI planes off of your Select Aircraft menu, get AirEd. Open the AIR file in AirEd, and change the Aircraft Type from 0 to 2.

Aircraft Type 0 is for flyable aircraft and makes them show up on the Select Aircraft menu. Aircraft Type 2 is for AI planes and keeps them off of the Select Aircraft menu. (I have no idea what Aircraft Type 1 is for, if anything.)

I assuming Stuart means removing all ai ac out of the FS9 aircraft folder completly to a different location.
cheers ian

That little program looks neat, I'll have to check it out.

What I've done up till now is open the cfg file and edit it to remove the manufacturer's name from the 'ui' entries. That way they will show in that 'undesignated' catagory which I never look at anyway.

You cannot save AI aircrafts to a new folder, but there's ways to organise it a little. I just add a prefix "AI_" to all AI planes, so it's all in a nice group in my aircraft folder.

But the biggest pain is of course showing up in the selection menu. Going one by one, it's tedious to change them. I didn't know about FS Aircraft Typer mentioned by Wing_Z, and it looks very convenient. I'll have to try that one day.

My planes are such a mess now, even with this nice programme, making it as organised as I like it, it will take me a long time! >_<

Cheers guys!

I did mean the actual FS9 aircraft folder.
It is cluttered with AI aircraft.
Would have been nice to stick all AI into a folder of its own!
I'm glad I'm not the only person with this issue.

Thanks again,

Stuart

You must not fly helo's much - "1" is for the flying eggbeaters! :icon_lol:

Thanks Tom!

I've long been curious about what type 1 is. I do fly helicopters, or at least I used to, back when I had time to fly anything at all. But I never realized that they have a different aircraft type in their air files.

In order to keep all my ai aircraft 'in one place' I add "ZZAI" to the front of the folder name of any ai aircraft I install.

That way they all sink to the bottom of my 'Aircraft' folder.

Well, downloaded it but can't install it; and I don't know why it won't work, as I don't read German. Never mind, back to Aired I guess.
